Bloomington’s Thanksgiving Farmers Market moves to BCPA
BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington has announced the annual Thanksgiving Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
The market is changing locations this year as a result of the city welcoming Bloomington Bison hockey games to the Grossinger Motors Arena, according to a news release from the city.
The Thanksgiving market will include current vendors as well as a few additions for the 2024-25 Indoor Farmers Market Season.
The indoor market will return to the arena on Saturday, Dec. 21, for the holiday market and continue the season there through April 19, 2025. Other dates will include Jan. 18, Feb. 15, March 15 and April 18. The market is free to attend and open to the public.
City staff will also be at the market to provide Link Match services to market customers, the news release said.
Platinum Rock Legends to perform in Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON — Cover band Platinum Rock Legends will perform at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts, 600 N. East St., at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
The band is from St. Louis and is known for covering various rock, pop and dance songs spanning multiple decades in high-energy performances, according to a news release from the BCPA. The band is also said to blend humor, theatrics and musical versatility, creating an immersive concert experience that brings audiences a mix of beloved classics.
A presale will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Tickets will start at $18+ and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
Booth Brothers to perform at Calvary Baptist in Normal
NORMAL — The Booth Brothers, a Southern gospel trio, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1017 N. School St., Normal.
The performance is part of Midwest Food Bank’s fall fundraising efforts. This will mark the trio’s 18th year supporting MFB in these efforts.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door on the night of the concert, or by calling MFB at 309-663-5350.
Self-service electronics recycling available Nov. 2 in McLean County
NORMAL — Self-service electronics drop-off will be available from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for McLean County residents.
This service is available the first Saturday of each month, in addition to regular hours of 7 a.m. to 2:30 pm. Monday through Friday.
Items may be left at Normal Public Works, 1301 Warriner St. Signage will show where each type of electronic should be placed in the building.
Accepted items, which do not have to be functioning, include computers, monitors, keyboards, televisions, scanners, fax machines, copiers, cellphones, cameras and more.
Items that contain Freon, like dehumidifiers and mini refrigerators, will not be accepted.
Drop-off is not available for businesses or residents outside McLean County.

Maryland heath care admin named president of OSF St. Joseph
BLOOMINGTON — OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington has picked a new president.
Eunmee Shim was announced as president in a Monday press statement. Effective Jan. 7, she will take over for interim president Derrick Frazier.
Shim is currently president of Adventist Health Care Fort Washington Medical Center in Fort Washington, Maryland. She will arrive in Bloomington with a blend of clinical, operation and strategic experience, which includes a previous chief nursing officer role, according to a news release.
After earning a bachelor of science in nursing from Sahmyook University in Seoul, South Korea, Shim completed her master of science in nursing informatics at Columbia University in New York.
Carol Friesen, CEO of OSF’s eastern region, said Shim will direct internal operations and help OSF evolve when necessary to ensure high-quality and cost-effective health care for its patients.
