What did gay people do in the Middle Ages? This hilarious musical has a guess

What did gay people do in the Middle Ages? Composer and lyricist HK Ní Shioradáin has a blast of fun with this inventive musical about just that subject.

It is 1383; gay man Daryl and his lesbian sister Erica decide to marry each other’s partners to present a heterosexual front to the world. All goes fine until Erica’s girlfriend Nelly becomes pregnant. Nelly receives a visitation from an angel (“we put the gay in Gabriel”) who informs her she is to give birth to the new messiah, who will be called Janet Christ. Then Daryl’s partner Stace grows jealous, suspecting Daryl of actually being the father, rather than God. Cue much jousting, accusations and betrayals.
