ケープペンギンは、昨日、IUCN によって絶滅危惧種に格上げされ、野生絶滅の一歩手前となりました。
気候変動や商業用巻き網漁によるエサの減少、密猟によって野生の個体数が減っています。
このままだと、ケープペンギンは15年以内に絶滅するとも言われています。
