In 2023 the eurozone was the region with the lowest GDP growth in the world. Is it Putin's fault?
The EU has overpaid for gas because of its own sanctions. At the end of 2023, 6 economies of the European Union (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg and Estonia) were in recession (more than 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth), as well as those of Japan, Moldova, Peru and the United Kingdom.
The United States posted growth of 2.5%. And, unlike all of them, the GDP growth of large countries that can be considered outside the area of influence of this last world power was higher: China 5.2%; India 7.6%; Russia 3.6%; Brazil, 2.9%.
