UPDATED:  Two additional charges were filed against Hunter Bagley on July 11, 2024.  He's now charged with first-degree sodomy, second-degree sodomy, and first-degree sexual misconduct.

A Benton County man is arrested for forcible sex with a minor four years ago in Pettis County.

Hunter Bagley, 24, of Warsaw, was charged late last week with first-degree sodomy.  He’s currently free, after posting bond earlier today.

According to court records, the incident happened in June 2019 at an apartment in Sedalia.  The victim, who was 16 when the crime occurred, contacted the Sedalia Police Department about the sexual assault just earlier this year.  She told police she’d originally been convinced by coworkers to stay silent but had recently been encouraged by her boyfriend and a female friend to speak up.

The girl and her cousin had met up with Bagley on Drake Harbor Trail.  They had planned to head to Bagley’s house to watch television, but her cousin decided not to go.  She says when they left the trail to head to Bagley’s house, he kept driving, taking her to his old apartment in Sedalia.  Once there, he forced her to perform oral sex, then returned her to Warsaw.

During questioning, Bagley at first denied the encounter, then eventually told detectives that he’d lied.  He admitted the pair engaged in a sexual encounter, although he claims it was consensual.
