Patron Capital has kicked off the search for a buyer for its Powerleague five-a-side football chain with an expected £60 million price tag.

The private equity firm has appointed finnCap Cavendish to help it to explore options regarding the operator of 41 clubs, which it has owned since 2009.

Powerleague, technically a small-sided operator as it runs both five and seven-a-side football, has 751 pitches nationwide, of which 361 are owned as part of its 41 venues.

Female participation has grown strongly since the pandemic, with a 150 per cent increase in the number of female leagues, in line with the wider boom in the women’s game that culminated in England’s Euro 2022 victory.
