The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) India was launched in October 2018 by the Prime Minister of India with the aim of driving the adoption and responsible deployment of emerging technologies in India.
A collaboration between the World Economic Forum, coordinated by the NITI Ayog, the launch of the centre is part of the World Economic Forum's global network of centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The C4IR India has taken a three-pillared approach to its initiatives, which includes constituting a multi-stakeholder community, enabling insight reports and frameworks and helping to design, pilot, and scale targeted solutions. It has also prioritized impact through its initiatives by working with partners to design and scale solutions that address specific challenges, and by collecting and sharing evidence to inform decision-making and policy development.
Over the last five years, the centre has brought together experts from government, the private sector, civil society and academia to address challenges and seize opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Together, they have worked on initiatives that are driving positive change and shaping responsible governance around emerging technologies.
