Photo book about Riverside’s Sherman Indian High School rekindles mixed memories

The more than 150 photos in a new book, “Shadows of Sherman Institute,” were taken in black and white.

But they sketch a colorful history of Riverside’s 115-year-old school for Native American children that is both bright and dark.
