India's PCB manufacturing started growing at a steady state owing to the demand for embedded devices. Its critical to maintain superior quality PCB fabrication during mass production. The surface treatment process of PCB has a significant impact on the performance, reliability, and durability of the circuit board. Here are some common PCB surface treatment processes and their applicable scenarios: 1. Lead Free HASL: Applicable scenarios: Lead free tin spraying is an environmentally friendly surface treatment method suitable for most general applications. It provides good welding performance and is suitable for welding through hole components. 2. ENIG, Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold： Applicable scenarios: Electroplated gold is commonly used for high reliability, high performance, and high-frequency applications, such as communication equipment, aerospace, and medical devices. It provides a smooth, corrosion-resistant surface that helps improve welding performance. 3. Electroplated Tin: Applicable scenarios: Electroplated tin plating is an economical surface treatment method suitable for general applications, especially consumer electronics products. It provides good welding performance, but relatively less corrosion resistance than other processing methods. 4. Hot Air Solder Leveling : Applicable scenarios: HASL is a common surface treatment method that is suitable for general applications and has a low cost. However, it may not be suitable for small-sized components as it may leave uneven surfaces on them. 5. Electroplated Gold: Applicable scenarios: Sinking gold is a precious metal surface treatment method commonly used in high-end applications such as aerospace, medical instruments, and precision instruments. Sinking gold provides high conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance. 6.Organic Solderability Preservatives： Applicable scenario: OSP is an organic solder protectant suitable for SMT (Surface Mount Technology) components. It provides good welding performance in the short term, but relatively poor corrosion resistance, suitable for consumer electronic products used in the short term. 7. ENEPIG, Electroless Nickel Electroless Palladium Immersion Gold： Applicable scenarios: ENEPIG is a high-performance surface treatment method suitable for high-density, high-frequency, and high reliability applications, such as advanced electronic and communication devices. #pcb #embedded #electronics

"Blockchain-Enabled Secure Collaborative Model Learning using Differential Privacy for IoT-Based Big Data Analytics," in IEEE Transactions on Big Data, April 2024. (2022 SCI Impact Factor: 7.2) Many congratulations to PhD student at IIIT Hyderabad (Prakash Tekchandani), graduated MS student at IIIT Hyderabad (Abhishek Bisht), Prof. Neeraj Kumar (Thapar University, India), and research collaborators (Marimuthu Karuppiah, Pandi Vijayakumar, and Youngho Park). The work is explained as follows: With the rise of Big data generated by Internet of Things (IoT) smart devices, there is an increasing need to leverage its potential while protecting privacy and maintaining confidentiality. Privacy and confidentiality in big data aims to enable data analysis and machine learning on large-scale datasets without compromising the dataset sensitive information. Usually current big data analytics models either efficiently achieves privacy or confidentiality. In this article, we aim to design a novel blockchain-enabled secured collaborative machine learning approach that provides privacy and confidentially on large scale datasets generated by IoT devices. Blockchain is used as secured platform to store and access data as well as to provide immutability and traceability. We also propose an efficient approach to obtain robust machine learning model through use of cryptographic techniques and differential privacy in which the data among involved parties is shared in a secured way while maintaining privacy and confidentiality of the data. The experimental evaluation along with security and performance analysis show that the proposed approach provides accuracy and scalability without compromising the privacy and security.

As an MS student, I was introduced to the fascinating world of secure multiparty computation (MPC) through Prof CPR's algorithms course. The concept of collaborating entities finding outputs without revealing inputs intrigued me, and this interest led me to delve into Turing Award winner Andrew Yao's work. I eventually pursued a PhD under Prof CPR's guidance in 2006, marking the beginning of my journey in MPC. Initially, MPC lacked accessible resources, with research papers being the primary reference. Also, when I started my research, MPC was considered a theoretical topic, with only a few groups working on it worldwide. However, things have now changed dramatically. A theoretical topic has become one of the most sought-after privacy-enhanced technologies (PET), with big tech giants and many million-dollar start-ups from the Web3 domain deploying MPC to solve real-world privacy challenges.  To bridge the gap for beginners, Arpita Patra and I authored a monogram on MPC protocols, focusing on passive corruption attacks. We aim to make this complex topic more approachable by providing detailed explanations, examples, and online video lectures (https://lnkd.in/g7hGUJe2). Learning Update: Day 18 of MATLAB Fundamentals! with MathWorks It's been an incredible journey so far, and I'm excited to share my latest learnings with you all. Today's learnings include: - Converting string arrays to categorical arrays using the categorical function, which reduces memory usage - Utilizing the categories function to save categories for future use - Leveraging the == operator for efficient comparisons - Merging multiple categories into one using the mergecats function, with the option to assign a new name - Working with ordinal arrays using the Ordinal function I applied these concepts to two engaging projects: 1. Tallest Buildings: Analyzing and visualizing the world's tallest buildings, merging cities 2. All-Time Box Office Grosses: Exploring and comparing the highest-grossing films By mastering these skills, I'm enhancing my abilities in: - Efficient coding and memory management - Data visualization and representation - Logical operations and comparisons - Category management and merging MATLAB continues to amaze me with its capabilities and versatility. Hi Folks, FPGAs come in various types and families, catering to different application requirements, performance levels, and design complexities. But, based on the configuration of bitstream into the FPGA devices, three types of FPGAs available, 1. SRAM-based FPGAs: - Description: Utilize static random-access memory (SRAM) cells to store the configuration data. - Advantages: Quick reprogramming capabilities, flexibility in design changes, and easy debugging. - Examples: Xilinx Virtex, Spartan, and Altera (Intel) Cyclone families. 2. Antifuse-based FPGAs: - Description: Use antifuse technology to program the FPGA, where programming is permanent and irreversible. - Advantages: Non-volatile, low power, and high security due to the irreversible nature of programming. - Examples: Actel (now part of Microsemi) ProASIC and Igloo families. 3. Flash-based FPGAs: - Description: Utilize flash memory cells for configuration, allowing reprogramming without external storage. - Advantages: Non-volatile, reprogrammable, and potentially lower power consumption than SRAM-based FPGAs. - Examples: QuickLogic PolarPro and SiliconBlue (now part of Lattice Semiconductor) iCE40 families. Remember, when selecting an FPGA for a specific application, it's essential to consider factors such as performance requirements, power consumption, I/O capabilities, development tools, and ecosystem support offered by the FPGA vendor. Each FPGA type and family has its strengths and is tailored to different application domains, ranging from consumer electronics and communications to aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications.
