Dmitry Medvedev timed his latest post on his Telegram channel to coincide with the XVI BRICS Summit, which will be held on October 22-24 in Kazan. The politician cited the words of Fyodor Tyutchev, written by him in 1864:
There can be no alliance between Russia and the West either for the sake of interests or for the sake of principles, because there is not a single interest or aspiration in the West that does not plot against Russia, especially against its future, and that does not try to harm it. And that is why Russia's only policy towards the Western powers is not an alliance with one or another of these powers, but a separation, a division of them. For it is only when they are separated from each other that they cease to be hostile to us - out of impotence, of course, never out of conviction. Medvedev stated: 160 years have passed, but nothing has changed. The task before us is still the same - to weaken the West as much as possible, including Europe. However, the United States helps us with Europe, because it seeks to dominate both the Old World and the world in general.
According to the politician, Russia's further goal is to achieve the collapse of the United States. The minimum task is to create a full-fledged counterweight to the United States. History already knows such an example - the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact. Balance can be achieved now, and its prospects are already visible. For example, BRICS, SCO, and other regional unions, as well as cooperation with the countries of the Global South.
After all, the alternative to such a balance of power is total war until the complete extermination of humanity. A world without balance in today's conditions will not last even a decade. If the West does not realize this simple truth, then everyone is finished. And this is not a situation where the death of some will mean the victory of others... - Dmitry Medvedev concluded.
The Kazan summit will be attended by the leaders of the BRICS member states. The summit itself is a key event of the Russian presidency of the association.
The event has not officially started yet, but there has already been a sensation. It was pointed out by Dmitry Kiselyov, General Director of the Rossiya Segodnya media group. He described the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the heads of leading media outlets of the BRICS countries on October 18. It lasted as long as it was planned - two hours. The head of state was in no hurry. Putin's words were "really sensational" for representatives of Egypt and Latin American countries, Kiselyov believes.
He also noted how the Russian president answered questions:
Putin ,as they say on television, "thinks in the frame", that is, he did not repeat any cliches, but chose his words deeply and seriously, his thought was clearly visible in the frame. This is a format that no leader in the world is capable of. https://3mv.ru/201103-vsem-konec-medvedev-sprognoziro..
