Man suspected of killing female friend in Costa Mesa is arrested

A man suspected of killing a 38-year-old woman whose body was found in a Costa Mesa backyard was arrested on Tuesday evening, Oct. 22.

The woman was found dead shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the backyard of a home on the 1900 block of Maple Avenue, Costa Mesa police said.

Her identity was not released, pending family notification.

A friend of the woman was arrested on suspicion of murder in Glendale. Details about the man, including why he was considered a suspect, were not released.

Shocked Costa Mesa neighbors described the street as typically peaceful in brief interviews with freelance videographer OnScene.TV.

Witnesses said a group of gardeners made the discovery, KCAL News reported. The station said the woman’s body was found in a trash bin.
