Paid to Protest?
While more than 3000 People are said to have perticipated in the augusut 23 anti-base rally in front of camp schwab , perhaps not all them were really anti-base
in the days leading up to the rally , at a flea market in the central part of okinawa's main island , people were recruited to participate in the demonstration with the promise of receiving 5000yen for doing so, according to a local resident, who said he saw two people accept the offer.
He also said the has seen protest groups solicit for particippants at this same location on other occasions.
