Here are ex-CVS CEO Lynch’s parting words to staff

It’s not often a departing CEO of a major corporation will publicly share their final message to staff.

But that’s what former CVS Health CEO Karen Lynch did a few days ago, following the announcement that CVS’ board chose to replace her as chief executive amid the company’s ongoing financial struggles.

David Joyner — who most recently was executive vice president of CVS Health, and president of CVS Caremark — was named her immediate replacement on Friday.

Lynch, who formerly led Hartford health insurer Aetna as president, took to LinkedIn shortly after the leadership change announcement to share the message she sent to CVS’ 300,000-member staff.

As of Monday morning, it had 231 comments and 55 reposts.

Here’s what Lynch wrote:

“I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Leading CVS Health has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. It has been my special privilege working alongside each of you to improve healthcare in this country.

I have witnessed firsthand your unwavering commitment to our mission: to improve the health of those we serve. Your dedication to innovation, compassion, and excellence has not only transformed our organization but has also made a profound impact on the communities and people we serve.

I am confident that CVS Health will continue to thrive and lead the way in healthcare. The talent, passion, and resilience within this organization are unparalleled, and I have no doubt that you will continue to drive positive change for the people and communities that depend on you.

I wish you all continued success as you transform healthcare in America.”
