I was just thinking about the relationship between Battler and Kyrie and people seeming to view her as some kind of sociopath. I think what people forgot is that Battler and Kyrie barely interact. Battler ran away from home the moment Rudolf remarried. Not only is Kyrie merely a stepmom, she is a stepmom to a child who is absent and who left because she became his stepmom. I think it's remarkable that her and Battler seem to be so close and speaks to both of their interpersonal skills. But in the end, Kyrie always loved Rudolf more. Something that people don't want to acknowledge about stepparents is that they just tend to not be as close to their stepchildren. Now add her upbringing, her desperation to not lose Rudolf, and what do you expect from her?

How's Higurashi for those that read Umineko first? Could you predict the twist and mysteries better the second time round? I would imagine regardless of order, your experience of reading Ryukishi's work is somewhat diminished the second time round.
I'm just thinking which I'd recommend if I were asked which one of the two someone should read to get into the WtC series. Higurashi released first so that's an obvious start point but I'd be interested in those that experienced Higurashi after Umineko. I think I would have enjoyed Higurashi a lot more because I'd have an idea how/why things are randomly repeating every chapter; Higurashi does a horrible job explaining anything, with answers only given in chapter 7.

Umineko was written to stump even people coming from Higurashi, even if they'd expect some of R07's tricks. On the other hand, reading Umineko first and going back to Higurashi makes it easier to guess what's going around - like most Umineko readers seem to realize Keiichi's point of view in Onikakushi isn't reliable when they first read the arc.

That said, many of them seem to coming out of Higurashi seeing it was a rougher work.

Not just for release order, Umineko was written knowing a lot of people would be coming from Higu. R07 seemed to do the reverse of some shit he did in Higurashi to trip people up.
If you're planning to read both, Sounds weird to choose to go backwards when Umineko has thematic references and the occasional reference about Higu's plot.
Although you wouldn't know they were "spoilers" without reading it first.

Anons, it's 3am where I am and I'm just lying in bed feeling really down. i can't quite place why, the only downer things going on for me right now are that I'm unemployed and still live with my grandparents, though as soon as I get a job I can work on moving out more or less just after. Even still though, I don't think either of those things are the reason why I feel bad right now.

At the moment I'm just trying to think of Hanyuu holding and comforting me to feel better. Been my waifu for probably around 7 years minimum at this point. I love her and I wish she could support me when I really need it beyond just my thoughts...

Don't worry anon things will get better, Sometimes in life we just feel really bad all of sudden and it makes us focus on the things we think are making us unhappy. I'm in no place to offer much advice since I'm pretty much in the same boat you are but as long as you take it one step at a time things will get better. Make a little list about what you're gonna do tomorrow and get it done no matter what but make sure to keep it small like make a resume or send an application somewhere! I know this isn't the life either one of us expected ourselves to have at this point in our life but it's not meaningless. Everyday you're learning even if you don't think you are, and as long as you keep going doing at least one thing a day to make it feel like you've done something then it'll will have been a day worth existing!

Oh my gosh I wasn't sure what to expect when posting my thoughts here, I just wanted to kinda vent out a little and say how I was feeling, I never expected this. Thank you so much, it means a lot! I don't think it's weird in the slightest, I do the same sort of long messages for friends of mine online when they're feeling down as well.

Yes, I always try to stay fully aware that downer feelings are totally temporary and it keeps me sane! desu, after how anxiety-riddled and miserable my college experience was, I don't think there's anything I can't handle provided I have the skills for it. Living with my grandparents isn't so bad, there's only a few things I seriously don't like about being here and I also just feel overall ready to be out on my own terms. It's just the matter of how slow the application and employment process has been. Two months since my old job that I left in search of better opportunities, and no dice yet despite sending out several applications since. Even the more promising ones have fallen through so far. That said, I've changed my tactics recently to just trying to push out a bunch on Fridays and do follow-up calls and any physical applications on Mondays. Had to change because doing that stuff every single day was seriously grating on my overal mindset. Haven't given up and I don't plan to!

In the mean time, I've been trying to strengthen my relationships with some of my friends and family somewhat, and picking up some hobbies and projects to keep me busy. Started developing a small rpg game recently, and I learned some of the basics of Chess, just as a couple examples.

Some other stuff I want to eventually try and do is learning bass guitar and to dabble with custom models or rom hacking OOT - of course starting with something like putting Hanyuu's Daybreak model over Link to make her playable! Only issue with some things I want to eventually try out is that I don't know where to even begin with some of them.

My point is, I'm going to be perfectly fine, I just have my moments of feeling down for no obvious reasons that I can really pin down. There's nothing wrong with that -- not for me, not for you, or for anyone else! So long as we have healthy coping mechanisms, we'll.move on to a better kakera! May Satoko help you as much as Hanyuu helps me if not more!

You shouldn't feel bad about living with your grandparents, it's a blessing; I like many others cannot do that even if I tried, given that all my grandparents are dead. Wait on getting your freedom until you have financial stability.
One thing I would suggest is to be careful about toxic positivity; feeling down can be a sign, and it helps if you can interpret and understand why you are feeling this way.
