They were only the cryptographic hash of the passwords, however, two words: Rainbow tables. This is also a reminder to everyone, use a unique, LONG password for every website, the longer the better.

It would be great if it were possible for users of the archive to mirror their local caches of IA data (kinda like seeding a torrent after you're done downloading).
Every Archive user could in effect be a mini local library, donating a bit of storage and bandwidth to the internet.
Has it already been done? I noticed a project dweb-mirror exists for offline access, but I'm not sure it's able to access IA data when the archive.org site itself is offline
