Question raised under Standing Order 27(2) - 12.12.2023 I want to draw this council's attention to the problematic situation that has arisen in connection with the academic activities of the Wayamba Faculty of Technology. It is reported that a lot of students have been treated unfairly due to the condition that the GPA score must be more than 2+ for the students of the Faculty of Technology of the Wayamba University to study in the third year. The evaluation of this GPA grade is based on the results of the students in the first two semesters of the first year and the first semester of the second year they should have GPA score of 2+. In addition to passing the final exam, passing the continuous evaluation is also mandatory to pass a semester. Thus, even if a student scores to pass the final exam, he may fail the exam by failing the continuous assessment tests. Thus, 43 out of 161 students in the 2018/2019 year group (004 batch) have failed (Batch miss) due to this issue. It is reported that 74 students out of nearly 240 failed in the 2019/2020 year group (005 batch). Moreover, in the 2018/2019 year group, 07 students failed after appearing for the second time examination, so the total number of failed students that year was 81. In the same way, the results of a group of students who appeared for the final examination were withheld by mistake while releasing the results, and the students say that the results of a group of students who did not appear for the examination have been received. It is also stated that after informing the governing authority about this, the 29 students studying in the 3rd year have been named as students who cannot complete their studies. Due to this, it is reported that more than 15 students have left the university without completing their degree. The answers to the following problems arising in this situation are expected to be placed before the House by the Minister concerned. 01.
