Google’s boss in the UK and Europe is stepping down after almost two decades during which he helped to steer the internet giant as it grew to a market valuation of $2 trillion.
Matt Brittin, president of Google’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is departing in the new year as the industry shifts its focus to artificial intelligence and responds to new regulatory regimes across the globe.
He will remain with the business as it seeks a successor and before taking time off to “think about contributing in different ways”.
