Trevor Lawrence: Lawrence had his best game of the season on Sunday, setting season highs in completion rate (82.4%), passing yards (371), and yards per attempt (10.9).
He added 2 passing touchdowns and an interception.
It was easily his best fantasy day of the year, ending the week as QB11 (21.2 points).
We highlighted Lawrence’s history of success against Gus Bradley and the state of the Colts’ defense as driving factors in expecting his best game of the year.
Lawrence was only pressured 1 time on 34 dropbacks.
That 2.9% pressure rate is the lowest of Lawrence’s career and the lowest for a quarterback with 30 or more dropbacks in a game since Pro Football Focus started tracking pressures.
Where we pushed Lawrence up last week based on his matchup, we will pull back this week with Lawrence as a QB2.
He just faced the defense that has allowed the most points over what a quarterback has averaged this season.
The Bears have held every quarterback they have faced to score fewer points than their average entering the matchup.
Overall, they have had a light schedule, but they have faced C.J. Stroud while Anthony Richardson and Matthew Stafford had QB31 and QB33 scoring weeks against them.
Chicago has allowed a league-low 6.9 passing points per game.
Caleb Williams (TRUST): Williams had his best day as a pro on Sunday, completing 20-of-29 (69.0%) passes for 304 yards (10.5 yards per attempt) with 2 touchdowns.
He completed all three passes of 20 or more air yards for 89 yards and both touchdowns.
In the first four weeks, Williams had completed 4-of-22 passes 20 or more yards downfield with 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Williams added 34 yards rushing, turning in his career’s first QB1 scoring week (23.6 points).
He will have an excellent opportunity to run that back here.
The Jaguars have allowed a league-high 19.9 passing points per game.
They have allowed a 69.4% completion rate (25th), 8.0 yards per pass attempt (27th), and a 6.1% touchdown rate (28th) to passers this season.
They have allowed a QB1 scorer in all five games this season, a list that includes Joe Flacco (26.6 points) and Deshaun Watson (15.4 points).
I prefer Williams as a matchup-based QB2 due to his early-season volatility, but he can be streamed in 1QB leagues based on the upside this matchup has provided for gamers to open the season.
