On the 31st, former SDN48 member Sera Mitsukami updated her Instagram stories. She had a heated debate with her blog readers about child-rearing, and said, "Children should be raised in the country!!!!!! This is what Japan needs!!!!"

On the 19th of this month, Mitsukami published a picture on her blog of her children playing in a water fountain at a park. She was criticized by readers who said, "Didn't you think about the inconvenience it would cause to others?", to which she responded on the 24th, "Huh, isn't that sweet?" and "It doesn't matter if it's my child or any other child doing this, I just think it's a good thing they're being free and developing a good heart."

On the same day, Mitsukami once again expressed her dissatisfaction on the matter in a story, writing, "I agree that the water in the park is paid for by everyone's taxes, so it's better not to use too much, but aren't splash pools also paid for by taxes... I wonder what the difference is." When the response was, "The water in the park and the splash pool have completely different uses," she expressed her anger, saying, "The water in the park and the water in the fountain are both taken from our taxes!"

In response to criticisms such as "They're trying to justify it by using children as an excuse," and "Child discipline is the responsibility of the parents! That's Japan," she retorted, "People won't grow unless they forgive each other." On top of that, she made a powerful statement, saying, "I'll say one last, really important thing. Children should be raised in the country!!!!!! This is what Japan needs!!!!"

Mitsukami, whose mother is Chinese and whose grandmother is half Chinese and half Korean, was born in China and has Chinese nationality, confessed, "I love Japan and I wanted to become a Japanese, so I naturalized!" She defended her statement, saying, "I went to the trouble of naturalizing, so it just means I have a stronger desire than most to make Japan a better place!"

In response to the harsh criticism of her remarks, she retorted, "I'm not attacking anyone, I'm on everyone's side!! That's why I want Japan to be a better place to raise children!!" She then vented her dissatisfaction with Japan's child-rearing support, saying, "The place we should be trying to change is Japan as it is now!!"
