Hello, I'm Charles Chiu, serving as a Science Officer at the Belmont Forum Program Office (BFPO), Center for Sustainability Science, Academia Sinica. My expertise spans across: 1. Fostering transdisciplinary research for sustainability transformation; 2. Soil and Groundwater Investigation and Remediation System Design; and 3. Human Microbiome.

I began my career as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware. Prior to my tenure at Academia Sinica, I served as the Chief Science Officer at Surface Bioadvances Inc., a San Diego-based startup specializing in pioneering human microbiome technologies tailored for advancements in prebiotics, probiotics, and related fields.

At Academia Sinica, I spearhead a comprehensive initiative aimed at expediting research on environmental change while addressing crucial obstacles to sustainability. Additionally, I lead the design and execution of projects to produce research outputs and fulfill objectives in collaboration with international science funding councils and regional consortia dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific pursuits.
