Personal profiles, prior achievements and job histories alone are low on my list of candidate attributes. I want to see in print how contenders are going to come to the ratepayers rescue by making harsh but fair decisions on spending. Don't lose sight of the fact that over 50% of all COGB funding comes from ratepayers who are struggling financially. Throwing cash at the art gallery and airport is a sore point with the thousands of citizens who don't use them, all whilst basic infrastructure falls apart. I'm told that neither facility pays its way. Council knows full well what the resident's "pulse" is saying but tend to ignore it. Former councilor George Flack rightly said that the COGB should consider alternative funding arrangements for venues that were costing money. Clearly that proposal wasn't popular at city hall. Selling off the airport, art gallery etc will save multiple millions of rate payer dollars. You will get my vote if your platform is back to basics.
