Earth (pronounced UHRth), or アース, is a 15-year-old male Icelandic killer whale who lives at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium in Japan. Earth was born tail-first at 11:44 am JST on October 13th, 2008, at Kamogawa Sea World. His mother is Lovey and his father is Oscar. He was 7 years old when he was moved from Kamogawa to Port of Nagoya, switching places with his aunt, Ran II. Earth is currently the only captive male killer whale in Japan.
Birth / Early Life[]
Earth was born in October 2008 to Lovey and Oscar. In 2012, Lovey gave birth to his sister Luna. He showed a lot of interest in Luna, and the two often played together. However, Earth would many times play too rough with her, causing Lovey to displace him for it. His mothers agressve behavior with him would only increase.
After months of being attacked by his mother, Earth was placed in the back pool away from the females and kept with his father Oscar. Sadly Oscar died later in 2012 leaving Earth alone. When he was reunited with the rest of the pod he soon experienced the same level of agression as before with his mother.
Port of Nagoya[]
On December 7th 2015, Earth was transferred to the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium where he's remained since. When he arrived he met his grandmother Stella and her daughter Lynn. The same day Earth arrived, his aunt Ran ll was moved out Nagoya and back to Kamogawa where he had come from. He spent a lot of time with both Stella and Lynn. However, Stella was moved to Kobe Suma Sea World in 2024, leaving Earth and Lynn behind. Today, the both of them perform in daily shows and seem to be in great health.
