80 years ago today the #Tokyo1940 Olympics would have been opened by Emperor Hirohito, as the 12th modern and 1st #Olympics ever outside of Europe & N America. The Games were awarded to Tokyo in #Berlin1936 but returned to the IOC in 1938 as Japan’s war with China intensified. /1
