I’m Proud of Myself For Trying

June 13th: What are you most proud of in your life so far? Tell us about it.

I am proud of myself for getting up every day and trying.

It may not seem like a lot, but in comparison to where I was just a few years ago, it is everything.

Ever since I was a child, I struggled with anxiety and depression. Because I was so incredibly mean to myself all the time, I felt unsafe with my thoughts. I used to dread waking up every morning.

My transition to college was pretty rough too. I am not that comfortable with change, and my parents were moving out of my childhood home. It was hard for me to keep up with my mental health with the future seeming so uncertain.

I am a true advocate of the fact that everything heals with time. I was eventually able to adjust to the transition, and I am feeling a lot more comfortable on my own. I chose to let go of the certainty that I was craving because life is uncertain.

I have to credit therapy and positive psychology, as both of these tools have helped me get to where I am today.
