The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund Welcomes Second Group of Patients from Gaza to Lebanon, for Medical Treatment at AUBMC - American University of Beirut Medical Center. Beirut, Lebanon - July 12, 2024 – The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund (GASCF), in collaboration with The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and Insaan NGO announces the arrival of our second group of patients from Gaza in Lebanon. The children’s ages range from 5 to 15 years old, and they will all be receiving medical treatment at AUBMC for war injuries inflicted by the Israeli Occupation Forces. The children landed safely in Beirut on the evening of Thursday, July 11th, accompanied by their caretakers. GASCF is welcoming them and ensuring they receive the best possible medical, psychological, and social care needed during their entire stay. Thanks to our generous donors we are able to cover all expenses including, but not limited to, hospital stay, medical interventions, social welfare services, housing, food, and logistics. Their arrival reiterates GASCF’s commitment to treat children with war injuries, in Lebanon, with the highest available level of expertise in war and injury surgery and treatment. Our objective is to ensure that every child receives the necessary treatment and support before they can safely return to their community to continue their recovery. We are grateful to our donors and the community for their commitment to this cause, and will continue to post updates about the children’s progress and the Fund’s activities on our social media accounts and website. We are deeply saddened to mourn the tragic loss of our former colleague, Islam Hijazy, who was killed in Gaza yesterday. For over ten years with PCRF, Islam worked tirelessly to serve her community. A devoted mother of two, she had been displaced from her home in the North since November of last year. In her memory, we stand united in calling for an end to the violence and aggression against women and children in Gaza.

In south Gaza, PCRF teams delivered 130 food parcels to displaced families currently sheltering there. We are continuing to reach more families in need over the coming days. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to provide relief and support to the people of Gaza, addressing urgent needs and helping to alleviate their suffering. We are grateful to share that 11-year-old Noor Alhuda has been discharged from the hospital today. Facing hereditary cystic fibrosis, Noor’s journey has been incredibly challenging. With the ongoing war and the crumbling healthcare system in Gaza, she has endured malnutrition, dehydration, and frequent lung inflammation. Noor was evacuated to New York with her mother last month, to begin crucial medical care. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing volunteers from PCRF’s NYC Chapter for their support. We also extend our gratitude to PCRF’s Treatment Abroad team for their exceptional efforts in safely guiding Noor’s journey from Gaza to Egypt and now in New York.
