L128 is a newborn Southern resident killer whale. They were first sighted on September 15th, 2024. Their sex is currently unknown.

Early Life[]

L128 was born in the middle of September, 2024, to L90 Ballena, they are her first calf. L128 and their mother was first sighted on September 15th, after being reported along the west side of San Juan Island. They were reported as the only L-Pod members in the area at the time.

Center for Whale Research was able to document and assigned a numerical number to the calf on September 16th. They reported that the calf were "looking good" with Ballena looking "physically robust". L128's appearance showed defined fetal folds, indicating they were a recent birth,. They were also reported to be nursing and moving normally. ^[1]
