General Information

Welcome to our guide for Muradin, a Tank in Heroes of the Storm. Within these pages, you will find everything required to understand how best to play this hero, in both different map styles and team compositions.

1.

Muradin's Overview

Muradin is a generalist Tank that excels at disrupting the enemy team. During the laning phase, he can focus on messing up enemy rotations by dismounting and chunking down enemy Heroes with the help of Dwarf Toss Icon Dwarf Toss allowing him to easily escape and Second Wind Icon Second Wind denying all damage he received while he farms stack for the Baseline Quest on Storm Bolt Icon Storm Bolt.

During team fights, he can either play defensively—by peeling and/or counter-engaging for his team—or play aggressively—by engaging and/or diving on vulnerable enemy Heroes.

The extra survivability comes from the Healing Static Icon Healing Static at Level 13 combined with Thunder Burn Icon Thunder Burn at Level 4, Stoneform Icon Stoneform at Level 16, Hardened Shield Icon Hardened Shield at Level 20, and Avatar Icon Avatar boosting your maximum Health and increasing your percent-based healing as well.

Muradin's Synergies and Counters

V Muradin synergizes with
Blaze Portrait
Kerrigan Portrait
Kael'thas Portrait
Hanzo Portrait
Malfurion Portrait

Being able to follow up on Muradin's Storm Bolt Icon Storm Bolt with a devastating burst damage combo is what makes Mages (for example Li-Ming) his ideal partners.

Chaining crowd control Abilities one after another is so valuable in this game that having another Hero who can provide this kind of effects from another Role (such as Blaze played as Offlaner) in your team will make Muradin a real threat for the enemy team.

X Muradin is countered by
E.T.C. Portrait
Thrall Portrait
Raynor Portrait
Jaina Portrait
Malfurion Portrait

Heroes who can deal percent-based damage (such as Tychus via Minigun Icon Minigun) can shred Muradin's Health very quickly, especially while in Avatar Icon Avatar.

When played quick enough, crowd control Abilities (for example Face Melt Icon Face Melt by E.T.C.) puts a lot of pressure on him because they can stop Dwarf Toss Icon Dwarf Toss, his only form of escape.

Muradin's Maps

Muradin's stronger maps
Battlefield of Eternity Hanamura Temple
Muradin's average maps
Alterac Pass Blackheart's Bay Cursed Hollow Dragon Shire Garden of Terror Sky Temple Towers of Doom Volskaya Foundry Warhead Junction
Muradin's weaker maps
Braxis Holdout Infernal Shrines Tomb of the Spider Queen

In the hand of experienced players, Muradin is good on Maps where he can use his innate resilience and mobility to harass enemy Heroes and enable plays for his entire team by aggressively but safely invading the enemy side of the Map during the early game (such as Hanamura Temple).

On the other hand, he is bad on Maps where the Objective takes a long period of time (for example Braxis Holdout) because he will eventually run out of Mana, effectively denying his Trait value.

Muradin's Tips and Tricks

7.

Muradin's Role in the Current Meta

Muradin is a well-rounded Tank that can provide vision, engage, and peeling to his team.

Thanks to Dwarf Toss Icon Dwarf Toss allowing him to quickly escape when in danger, Muradin can easily scout the enemy side of the battlefield to give his team a vision advantage, but only if the enemy team does not have tools to easily stop Dwarf Toss Icon Dwarf Toss during its animation.

During team fights, Storm Bolt Icon Storm Bolt and Thunder Clap Icon Thunder Clap are decent crowd control tools that can be used to either engage enemy Heroes or peel for allied Heroes.
