A narrative seamlessly blending entrepreneurial prowess with covert government operations. As the visionary founder of Overstock.com, Byrne, once lauded as the "National Entrepreneur of the Year 2011" and hailed as the "Messiah of Bitcoin," reveals an astonishing twist in August 2019-his role as a secret operative for the U.S. Government.

This memoir lays bare Byrne's integral involvement in the "Russian Collusion Delusion" and the Clinton Investigation, exposing them as deceptive maneuvers orchestrated on an unsuspecting public. As the story unfolds, Byrne becomes a national lightning rod, branded the "kingpin" by PBS in 2021 and identified as the Department of Homeland Security's top domestic threat in August 2022.

Byrne comes clean on the intricacies of his covert life, challenging perceptions and unraveling the delicate balance between public persona and clandestine operations. Unveiling his second life with the U.S. Government, from facilitating a bribe for Hillary Clinton to romancing a Russian spy, Byrne argues that these were early elements in a Deep State soft-coup against America, culminating in the alleged rigging of Election 2020, challenging fundamental principles of just governance.

Brace yourself for an explosive memoir redefining trust, challenging conventional wisdom, and reshaping the boundaries between government, business, and individual truth.

This Book is Riveting in its Explosive Subject Matter
I stopped reading Danger Close Domestic Extremist #1 Comes Clean by Patrick Byrne 31% into the book just long enough to urge those who appreciated his previous book The Deep Rig to get this new one to read. I was at the part in the book that started “In early February 2016, I met with the two FBI agents again. They brought a third agent, for the following reason. They said that in 2008 a law was passed that made it possible, under certain circumstances, for the Director of…” You’ll have to read the book for more details (I don’t want to rankle the AI surveillance of content for triggers), but this one made my head explode. Some may think this book’s more fable than truth, more fairy tale than actual entanglements with the USG involving diverse covert operations over a lengthy period of time, but remember “Truth is stranger than fiction.”Byrne is intelligent, discreet, adroitly adaptive and analytical, and has been relied upon by many in the upper echelons of DC elite. His academic background includes a: Certificate from Beijing Normal University, BA from Dartmouth, M Phil. from Cambridge (Marshall Scholar), and PhD from Stanford. This book is riveting in its explosive subject matter, and informs readers about things unknown to or ignored by the press over the last 9 years. The book is a combination of Byrne’s first person narrative, a question and answer session with an interviewer, and observations of those who’ve interviewed him such as this one: “Byrne believes what the country is experiencing is due to capture. ‘It is as Federalist #10 predicted,’ says Byrne. ‘In designing the Constitution, Madison wrote, they looked at previous attempts at Democracy, ancient and modern, looked at what made those experiments fail, and tried to design a better system. But they knew that there was a problem they had not figured out how to solve, and it was the one that took down republics more than any other problem: the problem of special interests and the corruption they bring.’”There are only a handful of books written by players during the Obama and Trump administrations that are worth reading. This is one of them. I’ve followed news stories involving this former CEO of Overstock for a long time. As a retired securities broker, I wondered who this corporate guy was, blowing the whistle on Wall Street about collusion and naked short selling, culminating in the SEC’s 2007 ban on naked short-selling of financial firms already affected by the mortgage crisis. Many corporate guys are far more practiced at swiveling with scotches than sniffing out significant corruption while winning judgements and court awards. Sometimes it may appear Byrne likes to color outside the lines, but upon study, patterns emerge and point to bad actors doing what they do best. So many in this nation are quick to brush away whistleblowers as wearers of tinfoil hats. For any that might be inclined to envision Byrne wearing one, be sure to notice the writing above the brim that reads “Hear Me Out.”

I have been curious about where Patrick Byrne fits into everything going on in our government after hearing him speak out on what happened after everyone went to sleep on November 4, 2020. This book cuts to the chase by giving the reader a concise introduction to Byrne from his childhood into adulthood and how the Obama administration started engaging him as an asset in international affairs. It also exposes the corruption in the government and gives details not shared before. Really enjoyed this book, it is a quick and easy read with photos to connect the reader to the subject. Flynn also gives a good, sound endorsement of Byrne. Definitely a page turner, and would recommend to anyone.

Author Patrick Byrne is highly regarded for his entrepreneurial prowess, his advancing bitcoin to Overstock, and his legendary battle against Wall Street manipulators preceding the 2008 financial crisis. In this incendiary book he reveals his consummate skills as an author, bringing his ‘other life’ as a national intelligence asset to the stage for captivating a broad audience.

Providing his impressive history of childhood influences and education and growth becoming a multilingual global traveller the book opens with a preface by his close friend Maria Butina, a Russian scholar and important player in Byrne’s later life. She adds photographs from his colorful past that underscore the credibility of the memoir that follows. Byrne then adroitly shares his fascinating experiences by using the ‘interview’ dynamic of writing, making the controversial subject matter of this book more immediate and accessible.

Byrne’s ‘second life’ became one of involvement with the intricacies of the US government as a ‘libertarian republican’ – a national intelligence asset who ultimately exposed the ‘systematic corruption infiltrating our nation’s government, the Russian Collusion Delusion, and the Senate Judiciary assignment to infiltrate and disrupt the Deep State.’ The permutations of these and other paths include the Hillary Clinton bribery and blackmail hoax, the 2016 presidential race and the 2020 presidential drama, and many of the names – Bannon, Cruz, Rubio, Trump, etc. – that bring this book into the forefront of attention at this time in our election year playbill!

Yes, the subterfuge and secretive aspects of the various bodies of government are extensively explored, but in addition to the ‘immediacy’ of the memoir content, Byrne places before the reader some excellent topics to examine: e.g., ‘A Bezmenov Psyop is a way of taking over a country without firing a shot. It comes in four stages: Demoralization, Disorientation, Crisis, and Normalization. The idea is to demoralize the target nation’s population to weaken them, then get them so disoriented the world seems psychotic to them, then force a crisis down their throats…For us Demoralization (Covid-19), Disorientation (Antifa/BLM), Crisis (election 2020), Normalization (Cancel Culture).’ No matter the reader’s political orientation, this book provides exceptionally interesting insights as to government function/dysfunction – from a brilliant man and author.

Danger First by Patrick Byrne is a wonderful memoir of the man with nine lives. While the book is not written fictionally and is a standard biographical narrative, the reader will soon forget it. The events are unbelievable and they continually occur to and because of Byrne. It was delightful to see photographs linked to the story to visually follow the evolution of Byrne’s life. His timeline, including dates and places, are overwhelming and further proves his intricate connection and authenticity to these real life circumstances. I especially loved the news headlines that were shared. It speaks so much to the private life of Byrne alongside the public image and conception of reality. Born with an entrepreneurial mind, Byrne shares his early success in the small business world, which soon would become astronomically larger with the evolution of the internet and online business. I was fascinated by Byrne’s balance of academia, business and international affairs. While some of these areas are blended by others, Byrne seems to aggressively conquer each area seeking a capstone of success. He has yet to fail.
The flow of the story is seamless, easy to follow and shows unlimited creativity. The “conversation on paper” with Byrne at the end, asks very necessary and interesting questions that will satisfy the reader’s longing for more. His openness about the American Government's covert deceptions/distractions are particularly revealing and disturbing. Overall, an incredible read. Enthralling, catchy and dangerous, the story will hold you at the edge of your seat.

Short read. Many questions answered. I knew something was not adding up re: this election. However, this is poorly written. Information repeated. I had to reread often to understand sentences or paragraphs. No flow. For me, it would have been better written in the first person rather than as an interview.
