OTHER USES OF ALTERNATIVE SEATING IN THE MID-VALLEY
Monroe: A Monroe Grade School teacher’s second grade class has piloted the use of several alternative seating options this year, including tall tables that students can stand at during the day and wobbly seats. The teacher lets students have the option of what seating they want as long as they are on task. Some other district teachers have interest in similar seating options.
Lebanon: Some schools offer a limited number of wiggle seats and a teacher at Green Acres K-12 School has a classroom outfitted with standing desks, ottomans, beach chairs, a kneeling table, hokki stools, short stools, pillow cushions and a rug and clipboards for working on the floor.
Philomath: The district is encouraging staff to explore alternative seating, and a fifth grade teacher at Philomath Elementary School has built a classroom with multiple seating options.
Corvallis: Most schools offer some kind of alternative seating, like hokki stools or exercise balls, and a few schools have standing desks as well on a limited basis
