SIAM seeks 12% GST on CNG and flex fuel bikes, 18% for other two-wheelers The auto industry body is of the view that the present 28% GST levy is way too high especially when compared to other countries. It has sought a lower levy structure in a letter written to the Ministry of Heavy Industries where it has pushed the case for CNG and flex fuel. After all, argue manufacturers, clean fuel options should be given a break as in the case of electric where the GST levy is just 5%. The transformation is occurring slowly but steadily. Many international corporations have established operations in India due to its enormous market size. However, due to the government's strong emphasis on promoting the #makeinindia campaign, it is highly probable that we will witness the emergence of new industrial powerhouses in India. Although #PLI is another big move in this direction, it is the responsibility of both the government and the beneficiaries to prioritise investment in research and development rather than solely relying on the advantages. NITI Aayog should enforce the requirement that certain advantages are exclusively allocated to #Researchanddevelopment.

One of the most glaring disparities in our system is the allocation of resources towards pension schemes for government employees. While it is essential to ensure that those who have served the nation receive their due, it is equally important to ask whether the current system is equitable. Why do government employees, who already have job security and benefits, receive such substantial pensions, while millions of others struggle to make ends meet? The allocation of public funds should reflect the needs of the entire population, not just a privileged few. A more balanced approach, where resources are distributed in a way that addresses the needs of the most vulnerable citizens, is crucial for the nation’s progress. Kartika’s story highlights the deep systemic issues in our society and calls for urgent action from the government, religious institutions, political leaders, and the private sector. We must go beyond mere gestures and work toward creating a society where every child can pursue their dreams without economic hardship. As citizens, we must demand accountability and transparency in resource allocation, prioritizing the upliftment of the most vulnerable. Kartika’s journey is a reminder that true progress is measured not by GDP but by the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens.

Secret behind how JSW’s MG Motor plans to launch a new car every 6 months 🤫🤫 Note: It’s a long story that most people don’t know about. So, let’s not waste time! .. Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) was founded 69yrs ago by the Chinese Govt, it has grown to be one of the world’s biggest automakers. -> But, its true rise began in 1997, when it formed a JV with US’ General Motors -> Later in 2002, the JV merged with another Chinese state-owned automaker Wuling Hence was born SAIC-GM-Wuling or SGW! .. Leveraging GM’s IP, SGW fed on the raging Chinese demands for bigger cars. -> But, that JV aside, SAIC wanted global domination. Thus, in 2006, it tried acquiring the defunct British automaker Morris Garages -> But, when it was out-bid by a fellow Chinese automaker, SAIC acquired that company itself, winning the ownership of MG, its tech, models & plants! .. Come 2010, it acquired the tech & IP owned by another defunct British brand LDV! This led to the birth of a new wholly-owned SAIC brand called Maxus which was all about large vans & SUVs. .. Same year, the SAIC-led SGW launched a fresh new brand called Baojun. This was all about producing cheaper versions of GM’s Chevrolet cars, particularly SUVs! Well-timed with the exponential surge in demand for SUVs in China, this was another big win. .. Outcome? -> SAIC now directly owned MG & Maxus -> And its JV, SGW owned Wuling & Baojun -> Wuling was more about smaller van-like cars, Baojun was majorly about SUVs And this is where the real magic began! .. SAIC stitched a deal: MG Motor could put its logo on the models of the other three & sell them in nations where those brands didn’t directly operate while paying them royalty on every car sold. This dramatically scaled up the MG’s ability to launch a massive set of new vehicles everywhere it operated, in a really low time & at very low development costs. And this is exactly what MG did when it entered India! .. So far, Morris Garages India has only launched one car of its own in India: Astor & its EV version. Apart from that: 2019: Hector - rebadged Baojun 530 (itself is a rebadged Chevrolet Captiva) 2022: Gloster - rebadged Maxus D90 - sold in China, Australia & NZ 2023: Comet - rebadged Wuling Air EV - sold in China & Indonesia 2024: Windsor - rebadged Wuling Cloud EV - sold in Indonesia Also working to launch a rebadged Wuling Bingo EV - a small car sold in China & Philippines. .. Developing an altogether new model at such a high pace is no easy job. And it’s costly too. But, JSW’s MG can do it every 6 months because it has to undertake no major development costs. That’s the secret! .. And, what’s the arrangement between JSW and SAIC? On every car sold JSW’s MG shall pay a significant royalty/licensing fee to SAIC and its JV body SGW. That’s the deal! What Kartika is doing is a subject of discussion and a fact of life. Despite the societal challenges of 'child labour', 'girl child', 'primary education' and poverty, Kartika's resilience and determination shine through, making her a true embodiment of humanity. By the time anyone starts implementing the existing laws or initiating a reform, Kartika would have established her own garage unit, employed so-called educated tech graduates, and serviced numerous two-wheelers. Her clientele would include customers from the labour department, women and child welfare department, GST department, and the local municipality. The existing garage owner must have had a similar story. In addition, Kartika and her garage would have made a significant contribution to the community, both in terms of service and taxes paid! Many people say Kartika should not work; she should attend school and study. Such people often forget that the great inventors were school dropouts. Kartika's work—servicing two-wheelers—is a significant education. It encompasses all subjects, from science and technology to arts and literature. It is a different matter that the custodians of the education system are blind. Kartika does not need to go to school; the school should instead come to her and see how she works. You may be wondering how a two-wheeler influences literature. Recall several poems written on them and songs picturised in garages! What about the arts? You can teach history here. The evolution, the growth! You can also teach economics, trade, commerce, imports and exports here. Having taught science and arts, you can also teach law, sociology, public admin, HR, and philosophy to any worker working in a workshop, if you please. It is concerning that the authorities in charge of the education system choose to ignore this issue. Why blame Kartika? Why not support 1000s of Kartikas and move forward?

Jishu Hozen is one of the eight pillars of Total Productive Maintenance. The main objective of Jishu Hozen is to empower the employee to make a daily conscious effort to maintain the performance of equipment and processes. Autonomous maintenance addresses natural deterioration by trying as much as much as possible to extend the life of the machine beyond its lifespan through establishment of the basic condition of the machine through activities such as cleaning, lubricating, tightening, adjustments and oiling. Seven Steps of Jishu Hozen : Step 1: lnitial cleaning & inspection (CLITA) This first step involves thoroughly eliminating dust, dirt and others from inner part of the cover through cleaning, and cleaning every corner of the equipment, detecting and correcting equipment nonconformity/latent defects for restoration, oiling and retightening, as a result, preventing forced deterioration. Step 2: Remedy for contamination sources and hard-to-access areas This is the second step of Jishu Hozen. This step involves detecting sources of dust and stains, preventing scattering of dust, and improving hard-to-access areas for cleaning, oiling, retightening, or inspection, and shorten time for these activities. Step 3: Drafting standards for Jishu-Hozen This step involves preparing action standards to be observed by oneself, so that cleaning, oiling, retightening, and inspection can easily be performed in a short period of time as reasonable possible. Step 4: General inspection This step involves understanding the structure, functions, and principles of the equipment, and how they should be in order to be able to improve the equipment efficiency; you need to inspect the main mechanism and parts that constitute the equipment without exception; detect latent defects; and restore or improve the equipment to desired conditions. It involves acquiring the skills that are needed to check the parts of the equipment functional components. Step 5: Autonomous inspection This step involves reviewing the drafted autonomous and general inspection standards, and preparing standards that ensures efficient inspection and prevention of inspection errors, and maintaining the equipment in its desirable conditions. Step 6: Standardization of inspection While striving for zero losses, review and standardize items to be controlled at work sites including raw materials/products, dies/jigs/tools, written work standards and records, measuring instruments, cleaning/inspection outfit, and transport equipment, in addition to facilities. This step focuses on daily maintenance with established check-sheets to maintain the equipment. Step 7: Thorough implementation, results and continual improvement This step aims to consolidate all the activities undertaken in step 1 to 6. This step encourages continuous improvement. The step helps the operator to take control of the equipment without relying on external support and relentlessly achieving zero failures & defects.
