Love my CVX, NEE and SMCI under $400. I try and buy and just hold. I agree NEE has been on a great run since buying in low 50's earlier this year.

When a stock is in the first and second most shorted stock position, if I own any of the shorted stock shares, I see because history shows when a stock is heavily shorted for more than three weeks, the stock price plummets.

@24339113 That stat is skewed heavily by unprofitable companies, IPO nonsense, and penny stocks. It does not apply to large/mega caps in the least.

I have a number where I buy CVX to add to my position. If it hits that, I’ll just add more. Sound long term investment for divy

Hess is one of the biggest longs. Shorting Hess to capture the spread.

Great! It just makes CVX a better buy, as a 36 year Dividend Aristocrat with 100+ years of never cutting its dividend, yielding 4.7%.

@josephaoppenheim

I don't understand why CVX is being shorted either BUT perhaps I've just missed something.

Perhaps a short will comment here.

@Clark158f1 It’s already down from about 190. The HES deal looks like a mess, oil prices are dropping likely mostly because of the China economic collapse, Berkshire has been reducing its stake, and CVX didn’t have great results in the last quarter.

It’s a cyclical business. When Trump was president oil futures went negative, leading to about 200 oil/gas companies going bankrupt, destroying the industry temporarily. So, also some speculation on the November election.

@josephaoppenheim You can blame trump for many things, but for the WORLDWIDE oil glut back then, which then got amplified by the pandemic??

Like he's responsible for the supply/demand swings of the WORLDWIDE oil market? PFFFFFT.

It's insane to be shorting CVX right now, or for that matter, shorting any oil majors.

@NorthZorro I'm averaging down. This data manipulation to crush $$/bbl is crazy

@NorthZorro I'm wondering if I should redirect my tobacco dividends into XOM, or plow back into BTI. For me, XOM will have to go below $100. I feel XOM is a better company than CVX, though I own both.

@purpleboarder Personally I hold both BTI and CVX, but with more CVX. XOM is a great stock too. I also hold SU, EPD in the energy space.
