This drive is a Matsushita UJ880A.
Slim type drives can be operated with opened cover because they only fix the disc from below.
Sometimes, the drive restarts because it drew too much power. Internal slim drives draw more power while spinning up than external slim drives because they expect to be operated from a SATA port, not a USB port. The solution is to create a parallel circuit from a different power supply.- Addeddate

Checking out VCFMW 18 near Chicago in Elmhurst, Illinois! Somehow it's even bigger and busier than ever. It's a full weekend of classic computers, retro tech, hardware and software sales, panels, gaming, and great conversation with awesome folks. Let's go conventioning! ● Watch the vlog side of this trip here: https://youtu.be/-0irE49HMVc ● Check out Luke's channel and his video about the trip here: https://www.youtube.com/lukeisafinename ● Video of the YouTuber panel and Q&A:...

Relaxing with Comp USA newspaper insert catalogs from the late 90s! These flyers always made Sundays a bit better back in the day, and somehow they're even more enjoyable decades later. I have a bunch of them, but this time we're specifically looking at one from February of 1999. When the colorful iMac G3 was new and 300MHz Toshiba laptops cost $2,800! ● LGR links: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.twitter.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews #lgr...

You'll see young women coding, soldering and selling all sorts of technology in the tech markets of Mainland China, this is very different to the traditionally male dominated tech industry in the west. That isn't to say that women are not in the minority here, but they're a big part of the technology game, especially in China's silicon valley of hardware, Shenzhen. I meet up and speak to the most famous female Maker and Coder Naomi "SexyCyborg" Wu and we go for an adventure around...

For YEARS now I've wanted to get a huge Antec 1200 case and fill every one of its 5 1/4" drive bays with weird and strange 90s and 2000s devices, creating a sort of Oddware Museum Tower. And it finally happened! Mostly. It isn't *quite* done yet, but we can still install everything into this monster ATX PC case and power everything on at once! ● LGR links: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.twitter.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews ● All...

Assembling a computer in a GMC R-2 Toast case! Named for its unique 5.25" drive bay solution, where optical disc drive is mounted vertically along the front so discs are inserted like toast in a toaster.
