But did you know there are different forms of charity, each with its own significance? Let's break down the differences between Shadaqa, Infaq, and Waqf: 1. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗾𝗮 (صدقة) - **Definition:** Voluntary charity given out of compassion, love, friendship, or generosity. - **Purpose:** To support those in need, whether through money, food, clothes, or even a kind word. - **Flexibility:** Can be given at any time, in any amount, to anyone in need. 2. 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗾 (إنفاق) - **Definition:** Spending in the way of Allah, often mentioned in the Qur'an. - **Purpose:** To contribute to causes that benefit the community and uphold Islamic values. - **Scope:** Includes obligatory (like Zakat) and voluntary spending, and can be directed towards family, the poor, or community projects. 3. 𝗪𝗮𝗾𝗳 (وقف) - **Definition:** A charitable endowment where assets or property are donated for religious or philanthropic purposes. - **Purpose:** To create a long-term, sustainable source of support for the community, such as building schools, mosques, or hospitals. - **Permanence:** The donated asset becomes a perpetual charity, with its benefits continuing for generations. Together, Shadaqa, Infaq, and Waqf form a comprehensive approach to charity in Islam, ensuring immediate relief and long-term support for communities. Let’s talk about ‘The Dream Gap’ Wat vinden we hiervan? Ouders zijn dus eerder geneigd om te googelen: “Is my son gifted” than “Is my daughter gifted” And at the age of seven girls are more likely to think that boys are smarter than them. The Dream Gap is the space in between young girls’ wildly imaginative ambition and their full potential—hindered not because they’re incapable, but by the society they grow up in. Conscious and unconscious biases try to water down their dreams early on, but The Dream Gap Project is on a mission to close the gap by challenging gender stereotypes and helping undo the biases that hold girls back. And while they’re driving awareness with this campaign, I think we all know it’s going to take an even bigger collective effort. We have a responsibility to close this gap for the next generation of girls—to nurture their #confidence, reinforce their abilities, and lift them up as dreamers and doers! Several factors that lead to high MMR involve various aspects, and effective solutions are often multisector based. One of the factors contributing to the high MMR is the poor use of maternal health services at community-based healthcare facilities. Moreover, the lack of understanding regarding the importance of comprehensive service utilization is considered another determinant of high MMR. Therefore, maximizing the role of community health centre (CHC) and raising awareness of the significance of holistic maternal health services constitute effective and efficient actions. As of April 2nd, 3,626 WFP trucks have entered Gaza carrying 63,000 MT Cargo including vital food. How many people is WFP helping? WFP is distributing food to more than a million people in Gaza every month mainly in Rafah and Deir el Balah. What type of support is WFP giving to people in Palestine? WFP is distributing ready-to-eat food parcels, hot meals, wheat flour and specialised nutrition products. What's inside a WFP food parcel? Date bars, halawa bars, chickpeas, white beans, green peas and canned beef. Is WFP providing hot meals? Yes, WFP is providing 500,000 hot meals daily in over 70 community kitchens. Is WFP helping bakeries in Palestine? WFP is helping bakeries with wheat and flour. 500,000 people have been able to buy bread again. How many people are displaced? Around 90% of people in Gaza are displaced, Rafah is hosting more than a million people. What's next? WFP calls for an immediate ceasefire. Support for Palestine has led to disturbing trends across many areas, including academia, corporate sectors, and politics. This support has sparked a dangerous rise in anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian sentiment across the U.S., which continues to fuel the violence in Gaza. A recent report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows a 56% increase in anti-Muslim complaints in 2023, with nearly half of these complaints coming during the last months of the year when the violence in Gaza intensified. Movement Strategy Center remains committed to advocating for justice. We signed on to a call for a ceasefire last year and continue to stand by that call. The reality is that most Muslim countries are suffering from the worst kind of brain drain, which is a major setback for our future generations. Many of us are waiting for an opportunity to come our way, and it's easy to blame others and the government for our circumstances. But instead of waiting for someone else to create opportunities for us, why not take a step ourselves within our circle of influence? What can we do to make a positive impact on our communities and our countries? As individuals, we have the power to create opportunities and make a difference in our own small ways. Instead of complaining about the lack of opportunities, let's take action and create them ourselves. Let's be the change we want to see in our societies. Let's invest in ourselves, our communities, and our countries. Let's build a future that we can be proud of, and that can inspire others to do the same. Fasting during Ramadan can be physically and mentally challenging, as muslim employees may fast from dawn to dusk, which can lead to lower their energy levels, especially towards the end of the day when we have been without food or drink for many hours.
