i didn't mind the ads too much. Only because they likely needed it to support the company especially after the administration put libry through the wringer & user supported platform was probably not working out too well especially after economic state of the many countries& layoff workd wide.

I don't know if you're trying to be funny or not, but an AD is short for Advertisement. Essentially the same thing as a television commercial or a billboard advertising a service or product.

Also even if a creator is in the YouTube Partner Program and get the some revenue, the revenue from YouTube's multitude of ads wouldn't go to the creators, they go to greedy YouTube instead. YouTube greedily loves to profit off everything and making little to zero investments on their internal problems.

I can't watch youtube videos on a phone because of all the ads blocking and/or interrupting what I'm trying to watch. You tap on the 'x' to get rid of the ad, and half the time it doesn't do that, but takes you to the ad instead. It's ridiculous. On a PC, youtube is easy to manage. But not on a phone.

If you hate YouTube ads but still don't use an ad blocker then that's on you.

I am happy they assault content creators on YouTube with ads. It encourages others to search for alternative content providers. The more they silence people and threaten users with account deletion, the quicker people wake up and smell the coffee burning.

No kidding since some of those ad creators decided to make them into infomercials. Hijacking the views. Now we have to sit through Power Hour with Pastor Pete (fictitious example) before we can see the rest of this 15-minute video.

And even worse, many "premium" video streaming platform that were used to be ad free back in the day are now starting to insert ADS into their PREMIUM PLAN. Two of the examples are Netflix and Prime Video, they're now inserting the ads into their 10$/month subscription plan and they put the ad free offering to their "whole new" premium+ plan that cost almost double the initial plan! And I'm almost certain that Youtube will follow the same way as they did in the future because all they want is more money

I watch EVERYTHING on line on a computer with AdBlocker, connected to large screen 65" and 86"TVs and see no ads at all.

Invidious came to be hardly usable since YouTube is A/B testing mandatory log-in to view videos.

Youtube has an enemy inside. I think it is strictly not youtube that does this, but it IS youtube that does not do anything against it.

I uploaded like 100 videos and got 3 views. certain channel are just shadowbanned. I get more views on odyee on fresh channels, despite it having so few users in comparison to youtube.

Both youtube and the video uploaders have the ability to shadow ban and remove your comments so it's never entirely clear who did it. That's one of the reasons I stopped commenting. I couldn't even be sure who to blame.

Actually, ads weren't so bad when advertizing companies simply contextualized their ads, rather than stealing your personal info to make ads "relevant" as they do today. It made lots of good content available for free, or at least much cheaper.

Honestly I took a break from Odysee, Basically just a dumbed down youtube now, No idea they had ads, Would never have returned if they did. I won't stay though.

The access to uncensored videos is the product; you are the customer. They have to get rid of ads because advertisers keep threatening to pull out if they don't censor people.

I am concerned about arweave implementation. There's many ways to grow crypto when others send it to you... And arweave hasn't given much server or node setup info to the public (that I can find). So are we making them crypto? How much data are they harvesting and how is it being used?

I think this should give Odysee a leg up on other alternatives, even if this is only a brief period before Odysee moves to a paid-susbcription model like Nebula. Hopefully being both free to use & ad-free will increase viewership in the meantime.
