Intel Alder Lake N97 Mini PC--NucBox G5

I bought a GMKtec N97 almost a month ago. Set up was quick and easy. This tiny box is impressive. It's smaller, quieter, and generates less heat than expected. I installed Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC). Now this mini PC runs 7x24 helping find cures for cancer, paths of asteroids, and refines climate change models. It's tiny, performant, quiet, and reliable. Perfect. Thanks for making a terrific mini PC. Much appreciated.

In short, this is an outstanding product. I'm very impressed with this device which I have used to replace the hulking and elderly Dell PC running Windows 10 in my home office. The GMK is a very neat solution that offers more than enough oomph for a work pc. Runs two 1080p HD screens without issue, Office apps run smoothly, plenty firepower to run GIMP image manipulation and older games run smoothly too. I was somewhat sceptical of the performance this device would acheive but it was so cheap it was worth a try, especially when compared against building another desktop and needing to buy the case and install the components. The GMK has effortlessly brought me bang up-to-date to WIndows 11 with no hassle. Open the box, plug it in and go! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solid workstation pc equivalent that sits neatly and quietly on your desk.

I've been using the unit for about a week, brought this in Aug 2024 directly from the GMK website where the price seems cheapest and shipping takes a week. Comes with licensed windows 11 pro, and for my home usage of web browsing, using Microsoft office apps, watching videos, using email clients like outlook and thunderbird and using zoom/teams - the PC works amazingly well. It is powerful for home usage, highly recommended! Much thanks to the GMKtec team for putting this unit together.

Fantastic little unit housing a lot of power in such small packaging. We thought this might have issues with thermal throttling but after extensive benchmarking, no issues what-so-ever. Very impressed.

I bought this lil fella since I was lugging my gaming tower back and forth to my sister's place so that I could work from her home office during the day and game at my place at night. It does everything I need it to and more. It is speedy and quiet and while I do agree that the USB-C power connector is a little annoying, I'm just grateful it's not a huge 3-prong whip. It runs all basic office programs smoothly (Office, QuickBooks, any cloud-based programs) and boots up in seconds. I've run some games that aren't super intense graphics-wise and those were all smooth and beautiful too (games: Raft, Don't Starve Together, Palworld). An awesome tiny thing. Palm of your hand tiny. How fun!!

Very interesting device. Really small and powerfull for it's size. Although it's packed into such small case it manages to keep it's temperature under control and is mostly quiet. On prolonged heavier loads you can hear the fan ramping up, but it's not loud. CPU is about the same performance as i5-6500T you can get in some older HP Prodesk USFF PCs, it's about 5% slower from what I tested in Cinebench, but integrated GPU is more powerfull in G5 . For example in Unigine Heaven benchmark Elitedesk had 367 points (14.6 FPS) and G5 had 580 (23 FPS). All in all great device for some home server or even main PC for browsing the net or typing. Greatest drawback, and the reason for 4 stars, is the fact that it uses USB-C connector for power and it's not Power Delivery compliant so you can't use modern GAN and like chargers. If you try, or plug one in by accident you'll most likely fry your unit. Or if you use power adapter that came with G5 on some "normal" USB-C device. It won't end good as it's simple 12V adapter, only with USB-C plug. It would be way better to use standard barrel plug. that way it would be easier to replace and there wouldn't be any missunderstanding about what to use and where.

so pleased with my gmtec5 it sits silently next to me doing all i need even gaming on low settings i'm running cashyos linux and its running so well. you tube runs fast and looks great. the price has just dropped by about £20 should of waited never mind still pleased with it
