"Copilot, give me a picture of a 30k-seat sports stadium on the Acton foreshore." That's about how substantial this proposal feels.

Building new homes, shops and offices would do much more for the vibrancy of civic than a stadium that will sit empty most of the time. Those renders really emphasise how much Canberra cuts off the city from the lake.

Fresh clear thinking; well done! Much better use of prime land instead of for private luxury apartments. What is currently community space continues for community use. Fed up with developers being ‘gifted’ prime public land (here, CBD waterfront land no less) that ends up becoming effectively accessible by only those can afford to live there.

I guess this would be the beginning of a hidden plan to drop the lake a few metres and reclaim the Northern bank around to Scrivener Dam for high rise.

What a complete waste of money that could be diverted to community sports. This is worse than the tram.
