General Terms and Conditions
All flight and hotel taxes and fees required to be listed by the U.S. government ARE INCLUDED (Federal Excise taxes, Passenger Facility Charges, September 11th Security Fees, any applicable International Air Transportation Taxes, and other U.S. and foreign user, inspection, security, or other similarly based charges, fees, or taxes), as well as fuel surcharges, if applicable. See Departure/Arrival Taxes and Fees.
- All prices quoted are per person, in U.S. dollars, and will only be guaranteed upon receipt of payment.
- Prices are not retroactive.
- Prices are subject to change without notice.
- Prices do not include items such as the following: Passport and visa fees as required by destination country, some foreign departure taxes, etc.
- By purchasing, you agree to receive e-mails related to your trip with Sun Country.
- Sun Country Rewards account number must be applied to your booking prior to departure in order to earn points.
- Once payment is applied, applicable cancellation and/or change fees will be assessed, some may be non-refundable.
- Taxes and fees may fluctuate due to changes in regulations and policies.
- A No-Show Passenger as defined in the Sun Country Airlines Contract of Carriage will be assessed a No-Show Fee of $300 per direction. Please reference Rule 135 in the Sun Country Airlines Contract of Carriage for more information.
Change and Cancellation Policy
Change/Cancellation fees are applied per direction, per traveler. To view our change and cancellation policies for bookings made prior to September 25, 2023, click here.
- Flight vouchers expire one year from the date the original itinerary was booked and can be used towards travel beyond the date of expiration.
- Change fees are cumulative.
- Flight + Hotel Vacation packages are non-refundable but may be canceled or changed with penalties. Any refunds will be issued in the form of an flight voucher and must be used for travel within one year.
24 Hour Cancellation Policy
- Sun Country Airlines will allow a customer to cancel a reservation made directly with Sun Country Airlines reservations staff or on our website without penalty for up to 24 hours from the time of making the initial reservation provided the reservation is made more than 7 days (168 hours) in advance of flight departure.
Flight-Only Change Fee Waiver
Change Fee Waiver allows the one-time modification of your booking at least one hour in advance of the first scheduled flight on the booking without incurring any change fees. Customers are responsible for any difference in airfare and optional services for the alternate flight(s) or date(s), as well as any difference in government taxes and fees. All subsequent modifications to your booking will be subject to the standard change fee policy.
- Change Fee Waiver is only applicable on the flight portion of a booking.
- Add Change Fee Waiver to your reservation during initial booking only on SunCountry.com, through the SunCountry.com travel agent portal, or via Sun Country customer service.
- Change Fee Waiver must be purchased for all travelers on the reservation.
- Change Fee Waiver only allows for a one-time only waiver of change fees for a modification to the booking.
- You can modify the flight date, time, and/or origin/destination of the booking. All changes must be done at least one hour in advance of the first scheduled flight on the booking, otherwise the modifications are subject to the standard change fee policy.
- Change Fee Waiver may not be available for purchase on all flights.
- Qualified bookings with credit balances from changes or cancellations will be issued a non-refundable, non-transferable flight credit good for future travel.
- Use Change Fee Waiver 59 - 1 day prior to departure, as changes/cancellations are free at 60+ days prior to departure.
Flight and Hotel Terms and Conditions
Specific to flight and hotel packages purchased directly with Sun Country, all Payment, Cancellation, and Change Policies as noted above apply, in addition to:
- All Sun Country vacations packages require flights on Sun Country Airlines and a hotel stay.
- Prices may not include porterage, gratuities, resort fees or energy surcharges.
- Sun Country does not permit minors (passengers under the age of 18) to travel without being accompanied by an adult on flight and hotel packages to/from any destination.
- Sun Country is not responsible for personal injury or property damage caused by any act or omission by the hotel or other suppliers of any of the services being offered in connection with this trip. In no event shall Sun Country be liable for consequential damages.
- Sun Country reserves the right to substitute accommodations due to circumstances beyond our control.
- Sun Country does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to luggage or any belongings while in the custody of any hotel or bus/transfer company.
- Sun Country reserves the right to vary package inclusions, itineraries, options, and hotels if necessary.
- Some changes (including name changes and corrections) made to confirmed hotel, car rental or activity bookings may require the component to be rebooked at the current available rate.
- Purchases of specific hotels, activities, transfers and travel insurance may be non-refundable.
- Sun Country cannot guarantee fulfillment of special arrangements or requests, such as adjoining rooms, bed configurations, or non-smoking room requests.
- Minimum check-in ages may vary between hotels. Please see the individual hotel profile for details.
- Valid identification will be required to check-in.
- Hotel may require a credit card imprint or cash deposit upon check-in for incidentals, resort fees and/or security deposit, which are the responsibility of the guest.
- Disability accessibility varies widely between hotels in international destinations; although listed as handicap accessible it may not be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. Accessible rooms are on a request-only basis, based on availability.
Flight and Car Terms and Conditions
- Renters are required to have a valid major credit card, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record in the name of the renter at the time of rental.
- Most rental car pick-up locations accept only credit cards and do not accept debit cards, gift cards, check cards or prepaid cards.
- Additional fees may be charged for drivers 21 – 24 years of age and will be collected at time of rental pick-up.
- Car rental taxes, surcharges and fees are not part of the package price and will be collected directly by the rental car company at time of rental pick-up.
Departure and Arrival Taxes and Fees
Included in the price of your Sun Country purchase:
Travel Within the U.S.A.
- September 11th Security fee of $5.60 each way, per U.S. enplanement.
- Airport facility charges (PFCs) of up to $9 one way or $18 round-trip.
- U.S. government segment fee of $5.00 on each flight segment, defined as one takeoff and one landing.
- Federal Excise Tax of 7.5% of Base Fare (Incl. Fuel Surcharge) for flights within the continental U.S. and to journeys to Canada or Mexico within 225 miles of the U.S. border.
- For travel to and from Alaska and Hawaii: Federal Excise Tax of up to 4.68% plus up to $11.10 (variable by destination city).
- September 11th Security fee of $5.60 each way, per U.S. enplanement.
- Airport facility charges (PFCs) of up to $9 one way or $18 round-trip.
- U.S. government departure tax of $22.10 one way or $44.40 round-trip.
- Other government taxes and fees (including U.S. government taxes) of up to $125 in flat-rate taxes plus up to 18% of base fare based on destination; total may vary slightly based upon currency exchange rate at time of purchase.
NOT included in the price of your Sun Country purchase:
Costa Rica
- Costa Rica Airport Departure Tax: $29 per person (including children and infants) to be paid directly at Costa Rica airport upon departure in U.S. dollars or local currency, or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express accepted). Credit card payments will be processed as a cash advance and may be subject to additional fees. Please check with your bank for details. Checks are NOT accepted.
- Some hotels/resorts may charge a mandatory resort fee that is collected by the hotel/resort during your stay.
Passenger Identification and Policies
- Domestic Travel: All passengers 18 years of age or older are required to present one form of government-issued photo ID (such as a valid driver’s license) or two forms of non-photo identification, one of which must be state or federal agency-issued (such as a U.S. Social Security card), before boarding a flight. Failure to present positive identification can result in denied boarding and no refunds will be granted.
- Proof of Citizenship: To enter or return from a foreign country, all passengers are required to present appropriate documentation. Each country, including the USA, has different requirements and these requirements are subject to change at any time. It is the passengers’ responsibility to have the correct documentation. All adults, minors and infants must have a valid passport for international travel.
- Foreign citizens may need visas to travel to/from the U.S. Non-U.S. residents also need proof of return flight or onward flights out of the U.S. upon entering.
- Sun Country Airlines does not permit travelers who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents to travel on a one-way ticket into the United States.
- Sun Country is not responsible for failure to present proper documentation. Incorrect documentation could result in denied entry and forfeiture of all monies paid.

Air Transportation
FAA regulations require that a separate seat be purchased for a child two years of age or older. There is no charge for lap-held children under the age of two.
- Birth certificates may be required at check-in as proof of age.
- Passengers 15 years of age or older may legally hold a child in their lap.
- Only one child under the age of two years old per passenger is allowed.
