SKELLYTOWN, Texas (KVII) — Spring Creek ISD Superintendent Danny Finch calls the projections "dire."
The district could consolidate with Borger ISD for the 2024-2 school year. But Finch said it would not happen before then.
"We will finish out this school year providing your child with the same, high-quality instruction you expect at SCISD," said Finch. "The district is in a financial position to remain open through July."
In six months, that might not be the case.
Thursday, the Spring Creek ISD Board of Trustees will consider a resolution to consolidate with Borger ISD.
Consider approval of a Resolution regarding declining enrollment, District finances, and consolidation of the Spring Creek Independent School District with the Borger Independent School District.
"No decisions on consolidation have been made. However, I want to be transparent with you and share that projections are dire for a possible 2024-2025 school year," said Finch.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Creek ISD building in Skellytown.
"The Board and I have worked hard to explore and consider all options for keeping SCISD," said Finch. "If the Board votes to move forward with consolidation, please know that all options have been analyzed prior to such action being taken."
