The United States, a nation with 4.5% of the world's population, consumes 47% of the world's Viagra (Pfizer's own figures). Turns out the same nation has been circumcising the majority of its male infants for generations.
A new studyin the International Journal of Men’s Health shows that circumcised men have a 4.5 times greater chance of suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) than intact men, revealing what appears to be a significant acquisition vector. Other studies have previously observed that circumcision’s damage results in worsened erectile functioning, inability to maintain an erection, and reducing the glans sensitivity, including an overall penis sensitivity reduction by 75%. A recent study discovered that premature ejaculation is five times more likely when adjusted for erectile dysfunction and circumcision.
Moreover, in Israel- a country that routinely circumcises their baby boys for religious reasons- Viagra is so common there that the Pfizer pharmaceutical company asked for permission to market Viagra without a doctor's prescription- making it an over-the-counter medication.
The truth is, you simply cannot change form without altering function. While there are immediate dangers and harm caused by circumcision, there are also other problems that may not arise until much later in life. One of these dangers is erectile dysfunction (more commonly known as ED).
One of the major reasons that circumcision can lead to ED is because of keratinization. The glans (or head) of the penis is intended to be an internal organ, protected by the prepuce (foreskin). When the foreskin is removed, the head is completely exposed to the elements, including a constant rubbing against clothing. Over time, the skin thickens to protect the glans (much like a callous forms in areas of excessive friction). The head becomes dry and thick and is no longer supple and moist.
As men grow older, the thickened skin of the glans becomes less and less sensitive, which can cause men to have issues with erections. Sensitivity loss is also contributed to the circumcision itself, which removes the majority of the specialized nerve endings in the penis (over 20,000).

I know of no careful study of ED and premature ejaculation in adult men of all ages, with special reference to the possibility that the incidence of these problems could be correlated with circumcision. We have no data on the percentage of adult circumcised men who have uncomfortable erections because too much skin was cut off in infancy.
The first duty of a medical profession that performs a surgery in infancy, is follow-up studies of the possible complications of that surgery in adulthood. The lack of such follow-up studies is why I deem medical school profs the villains in the tragedy that is routine infant circ in the USA. Also, pediatric urologists encounter a lot of circumcision problems in their day to day practice, but do not share the extent of such problems with the wider public. This is unconscionable.
Two, recent studies show that circumcised men are almost 5 times more likely to suffer from ED than intact men.
The ONLY studies that will be done are studies that justify or rationalize circumcision.
(American) Doctors are never going to study the trauma, abnormalization and damage that circumcision causes, because it is their cash cow.
They are out for a low risk, high profit procedure. Circumcision fits that bill nicely.
Even doctors who don't do MGM procedures are afraid of making their fellow doctors look bad. They take the cowards way out. Silence. Disappointing they are, in nearly every case.
Yeoman Roman is spot on, MGM is a very easy, reliable way to make a lot of money, and the patient does not get a chance to say "No!" The worst effects usually do not show up until long after the doctor has left the scene of the crime. That's the way it happened to me.
Can you please highlight the 47% viagra stat, in the Pfizer financial report? I can't find it. Thanks.
The Phizer Pharmaceutical 2002 financial report published that 54% of sales of the product were in The US. At one time, it was on their site. Don't know if it still is or not.
While The US consumes most of the Viagra production, Malaysia (Muslim and circumcised) has the highest per capita consumption of the product and Israel (Jewish and circumcised) is the world's leading counterfieter of Viagra.
Europe has circumcision rates very near zero and Viagra has few sales in Europe.
This is called "anecdotal evidence" but for millions of men around the world, it's not funny. The product is not available to many men because of health problems preventing them from using it. For others, the $10.00 per pill price tag is just not affordable.
.
Posting numbers is useless unless the study includes facts behind the numbers. Israeli's are notorious smokers, and ED can be the result of heart disease, or ED can be from stress due to to being bombed daily by the Palestinians. The author I think has an agenda and is using numbers to back up his agenda.
We need a careful cross cultural study of ED, that takes advantage of the fact that most older men are circumcised in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA, about a third are in the UK, and few are in Europe and Japan. I am happy to exclude Israel from such a study, on the grounds of its special circumstances. I agree that data on where Viagra sells are only suggestive; the main reason why most of the world does not use Viagra is because men can't afford it and pharmacies don't even stock it. I bet most systems of socialised medicine don't reimburse the cost.
That settles it. I'm going to try and grow mine back starting right now. :p
Roger Desmoulins: The data on where Viagra sells is more than suggestive. If were only one or two countries, it would be suggestive and "anecdotal evidence." But with the sheer numbers of countries, the evidence is confirmed.
Several countries now have a higher standard of living now than The US including the Scandanavian countries and Japan. I think The US is now 4th but maybe lower since the recession.
The countries that have the highest counterfieting problem as well as Malaysia that has the highest per capita use also have a lower standard of living. They can afford it or at least put the money together to buy it.

See my article on Scribd where I develop my theory on circumcision-related ED. The gist is this: circumcision severs the perineal nerve, which is strongly associated with erectile dysfunction. Just as severing the optic nerve is strongly associated with blindness.

Circumcision is severe child abuse.
You are very right. Imagine if they started cutting the labias off baby girls, in civilized countries. It'd be the only thing you saw on the news, only thing you heard anywhere until it stopped! It'd be a catastrophe!
Correct. Of course circumcision is child abuse. It is genital mutilation without consent. How can it be anything else? Of course it causes impotence. As an uncircumcised European in my 40's I can tell you that the glans of my penis is still extremely sensitive and erogenous because it has the same kind of thin sensitive mucous membrane that is inside your mouth and on your tongue. Imagine how insensitive those areas would be if they became thickened, hardened and keratinised. The same happens to the glans when the protective foreskin is removed to leave them exposed. I know I would be impotent if the glans of my penis were keratinised like the palm of my hand. The shaft is not sensitive at all, and the circumcised head would be even less so. This would cause me severe psychological problems especially if this abuse and mutilation had been inflicted on me without my consent as a child. That is what is wrong with many American men. Circumcision deeply affects their self esteem. They are unable to enjoy sex. They feel violated and mutilated. They may not admit even to themselves or even fully realise how badly circumcision affects their psyche, but it does. It is criminal and those perpetrating and promoting it for financial gain should be prosecuted. One day they will be and they should fear this. Anyone on here trying to defend this barbaric mutilation is either promoting it for their own vested interest and financial gain and/or is circumcised themselves and is in denial, therefore does not want to hear and admit to themselves what harm it has done to them.
Unfortunately whatever you are saying it true. I also agree with Nick Etrin about Jewish influence and support of circumcision in US. Looks like nobody ever thought about that. People will die to protect weed but don't care about kids and their right. I watched youtube video how it is done and still under shock. How person in his mind can do that to ids without even any anesthesia ? But for some reason they care about caws? Where is logic? There is no logic, but only money: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxbe-0jvj38

Yes I entirely agree. American men try and behave so macho because due to their mutilated penis they cannot properly do the one macho thing that they should be able to. They feel inadequate as men and they try and compensate for this with excessively macho behaviour including their need for guns. I have had relationships with both American and European men. The Europeans are the real men in the bedroom and don't feel a need to prove their manhood by any other means; the American men can't perform or properly get hard and they are psychologically damaged as a result. This is a national disgrace and scandal in the US!!!
Great article... as someone who has experienced circumcision related ED and done a huge amount of research into how to reverse it, I completely agree with everything you've written.
I think in years to come we're going to look back at how incredibly stupid we were to circumcise our babies, but for now all we can do is to try and make our voices heard.
Keep up the good work!

PS - if you want to know how I reversed me circ-related ED it's revealed in full in a free video at my website www.shyguycure.com. I did have to hide the video behind a password-protected members' area though as it's very graphic.

I have had trouble with sex my entire adult life. Almost zero sensation. It really affected my self esteem. I started to restore my foreskin with no expectation for any change in myself, other than I wanted to experience my own self as whole... just once. If I hate it, I could always get circumcised again. But this time it would be my choice.
Since I started restoring my foreskin, I can report a massive change in sensations, both in the glans and in the new skin tissue I have created just from gentle tension. I am FAR more sensitive then I have ever been, and erections at 38 are even more enjoyable than they were for me at 18. Did you know that if you have more skin you won't have painful erections? I didn't.
Everything is much more comfortable, and pleasure comes much more easily to me than it ever has before. It makes me mad I had to live a life os shame and self loathing because my parents thought cutting me was somehow cleaner. (it's not.)
Circumcision does indeed cause ED. Anyone claiming otherwise is in denial. I know for sure. I am one of them.
Being intact, I have no idea whether circumcision causes ED or not. The best treatment I have found for my ED is to use penile injectable Alprostadil, but I have lost all my desire for sex 100%. I'm 60, and still quite "young" (at heart) but zero interest in sex. It's grossly overrated and a total waste of time and effort.
I just want to make you aware that the AMA is now seeking to normalise genital mutilation throughout society by demonising the labia minora.

Looking at the Circumcision law which blocks local bans I came to conclusion that till Jewish will be taking decisions that horror will never end. And I also believe that circumcision started in this country only because of jewish. It is not common in any other country like Russia or Europe. I think the best thing that we can do to fight with that just educate people. I fee horrible thinking of those kids whose life is screwed. My two sons are not circumcised.
