Demanding but rewarding
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - November 6, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI worked as a registered nurse while going also finishing my Master's in Nursing. The hours were flexible, and the staff working on the floor were all very supportive. Admin was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall friendly

Tech (Current Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - November 28, 2023
Management and administration is a joke. They do not care about the patients only how much money they can make. Staff is overworked and not cared for.

Terrible management, excessive turnover
Mental Health Technician (MHT) (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill - April 21, 2023
Not worth your time, always understaffed and management is a joke. CEO and HR are awful.HR does not engage with employees and never returns calls or emails. The CEO is in Lala land, has no idea how to run a place like Meridell.
Pros
The patients
Cons
Management and turnover

Toxic Culture don't work here
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - February 9, 2023
If you are a new RN, do not work here. If you are a seasoned RN that loves advocating, pt education, and are an innovator, don't work here. The leadership does not have your back because they can't. They are stuck at the helm of a sinking ship that won't improve without a complete foundational overhaul. The C suite and corporate environment continues to accept patients while undertrained and understaffed leading to the most unsafe, toxic work environment I've ever experienced. Techs and RNs are numb and everything falls of deaf ears. Hiding med errors left and right, lying or leaving info out on shift reports, and staff just trying to make it. Some people also have too much power, many lowere licensed staff or not even licensed at all. I heard all the time, these kids need to learn how to live in the real world. Well, by working here, you'll ensure toxicity continues to govern the apparent "real world" they are pushing on children here.Don't work here.
Pros
Moments you can work with a child
Cons
Poor communication and collaboration

Don’t waste your time
Mental Health Technician (Current Employee) - Killeen, TX - October 21, 2022
You will be over work, underpaid, and your safety is always in jeopardy. It is supposed to be an RTC, but they are admitting any types of patients in order to fill the beds up. The safety of the patients and staff are nonexistent.

Potential
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - June 20, 2022
It’s not horrible, it has potential. Wish I felt heard in my time there. You meet some great kids that come in struggling, and it is rewarding to know you played a part in their success when they are able to go home.

MHTs are overworked and underpaid
Behavioral Health Technician (Current Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - March 1, 2022
If you have a heart for helping kids, you can absolutely do that at Meridell. Sadly, however, you will not be rewarded for your hard work. Administration and management are completely out of touch with what is actually happening on the units. They are more concerned with keeping bodies in beds and keeping the money coming in. I have worked here for almost three years. The only reason I have stayed so long is for the kids and for some of my coworkers. I tolerated the low pay for a while, but it’s time for me to walk away and capitalize on my worth.
Pros
Helping kids, coworkers, job security
Cons
Low pay, poor management, burnout, no room for growth

The ability to help patients with life skills.
Mental Health Technician (MHT) (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - December 12, 2021
Meridell has a great CEO that cares about the company and staff. I appreciate the opportunity to work for organizations that has a purpose and ability to change children's lives. The pay is low and raises are minimal but the purpose is huge.
Pros
Ability to change children's lives and work with great staff.
Cons
No paid breaks, hourly pay, and raises

Challenging job with a sense of purpose
Mental Health Technician (Current Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - September 1, 2021
Working for Meridell has been one of the best, most challenging experiences of my life. Since my first day, I have experienced a tremendous amount of personal growth. The work is rewarding but tough. I have met some truly amazing humans in my work, and the people you work with are the best part. There are difficult days, weeks, and months...but this, like anything is cyclical. We get some tough kiddos, but the treatment team is always committed to bringing things back around.
Pros
Free meals for direct care staff, generous PTO, shift differentials, and the chance to help kids.
Cons
Some difficult days, tough cases, and you eat with the kids, so no lunch break

Excessive Hours
Counselor (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - June 2, 2021
The facility was usually understaffed meaning that they would hold employees over in order to maintain ratio. The same employees were allowed to call out without reprimands. How did we know? They were still employed

Management is HORRIBLE!
Mental Health Technician (MHT) (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - April 8, 2021
Management sucks! They don't care about the well-being of their employees. Those who love their jobs and strive to be the best role model for the patients get treated the worst, while those who half do their jobs get special treatment. You really have to have a strong mental to be able to deal with the constant stress.

Short staffing
Youth Care Counselor (Former Employee) - Liberty Hill, TX - January 23, 2021
Often short staffed. PRN staff not treated the same as core staff. High stress environment. Coworkers generally nice but clear favoritism by upper management. The best part was trying to help the kids.
