2023 has been an incredible year and has marked the completion of my third year studying a conjoint degree in Law and Commerce. As we begin 2024, I would like to take the time to reflect on what an incredible year it has been and some of the opportunities I am so grateful to have had. 🤝 Being Co-President of Auckland University Commerce Students' Association , alongside Noor Randhawa has been a main highlight of my year. We went into this year to increase membership, improve student engagement and support within the Business School, and expand our sponsorship network. I can proudly say we achieved all of these goals. With a 235% membership increase from 2022 and 12 events throughout the year, social and professional development, our community has benefited tremendously. Our annual commerce ball was a notable success - hosted at the Ellerslie Event Centre with over 250 attendees. Not only was the event a hit, but it was kept well under budget, a difficult achievement I am personally proud of. Through my presidency, I have gained the University of Auckland's leadership co-curricular recognition pathway for my service and demonstrated leadership skills. My goal for 2024 is to complete a second pathway, to graduate as a Distinguished graduate. As my term as Co-President ends, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. I am immensely proud of the 2023 AUCSA team and our accomplishments. 💼 Working part-time at UDC Finance Limited as a Verification Officer this year has been a great learning opportunity. Having previously worked in financial services, I have always had an interest in the industry, which aligns well with my studies towards a Bachelor of Commerce. Working in a project group for the CCCFA expenditure benchmarking has interested me, as the changing rules and regulations within the industry sparked my interest through my studies for a Bachelor of Laws. 🚀 Continued my volunteer work with UN Youth New Zealand. This year, I volunteered as Chair at the New Zealand Model United Nations and Auckland Model United Nations. As the two largest UNYouth events in the country, I was incredibly excited to Chair for the first time in committee sessions. This was a great learning opportunity and I had an incredible time with students nationwide to promote civics education. Going into 2024, I am proud to have been elected Treasurer-Secretary at Auckland University Students' Association. In November I attended the New Zealand Union of Students' Associations Student Voice Summit alongside the AUSA President and Engagement VP as we discussed our vision for partnered student associations nationwide. I look forward to continuing my passion in student politics and for the year ahead with the AUSA executive and staff. With a busy calendar already booked, I am beyond excited for the opportunities of 2024. Thank you for sharing the successes of 2023, and here's to continued growth and a happy new year!
