Tidak apa. One thing that irritates me in Malaysia is the tidak apa attitude in the work place. If you are paid well to do a job, please do it with commitment, or leave. And no, it does not happen everywhere in the world. I have worked in the US, Singapore and Australia before, almost everyone gives their all. Those who don't, won't be there for long. Somehow in Malaysia, they will be here until they retire. The worst ones, are the tidak apa but still wants to be paid highly. Over the years I think there may be 2 causes for this tidak apa attitude. One is management based. Well, accountability reinforces responsibility. Assigning clear definitions of duties and appropriate trainings are the first step. The second is that there are some people in this world who truly believes, a job is just a job. They never developed their work ethics. So they show up, do the minimum required to get paid and have zero investment in the success of the company. Just my personal opinion but if the leader works like a dog to get things going, it would be nice if the rest could follow a bit, not all the way, but at least meet half way. Why? Because when you are successful in the future and bonuses are paid out, somehow everyone will start saying they gave their all.

Organization's Staff Turnover Rate Rationalization : (1) Superb organizations normally having a very small staff turnover rate. Like in Petronas case with a total staff of about 47,000 currently, their annual staff turnover rate is much less than 1 %. Petronas total staff used to be around 53,000 but have been retrenched via voluntary separation package to around 47,000. (2) Grievances or grudges amongst Professionals who have resigned any companies : (2.1) As high performers being burden with massive tasks, eventually no harm to the companies. The companies may simply hire new experienced staff available in the market. In Petronas case, if local Professionals are not available, they simply hire Expatriates. (2.2) For SME, no wonder they simply hire immigrants for certain jobs. (2.3) Like in Oil and Gas Big Corporations, as some Professionals keep on hopping from one Company to another for career progressions, nothing's wrong with that. (2.4) Certain Professionals might be low performers 10 % the bottom in any particular company, but upon hopping, they might be performing as high performers 20 % in other company. (2.5) When some Professionals resign, there will be opportunities for new comers such as Graduates, Protégés, Seeding Executives to replace those who resign. (2.6) That's why certain companies have imposed a 3- month notice for resignation, for hiring new Staff and handing over jobs.
