👀💼 Want to ace your next online job interview? New research from Hiroshima University reveals a simple yet powerful tip: maintain eye contact with your webcam instead of the interviewer on your screen! 📸🔝 A study led by Professors Noriko Yamane and Masahiro Shinya shows that job-seekers who focus on their webcam during virtual interviews are rated higher on key criteria like connection, social appropriateness, and job qualifications. 🎯 Mock interviews with students revealed that webcam eye contact significantly boosts evaluations compared to looking at the screen or audio-only interviews. 👩💻 "Eye contact plays a crucial role in the evaluation process," Yamane highlights. So, next time you're prepping for an interview, remember to keep your eyes on the camera! 📷✨ #JobInterviewTips #CareerAdvice #VirtualInterview #InterviewSuccess #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #InterviewPreparation #WorkplaceTips https://lnkd.in/gqHr68EC

👉👀 I'm looking at you NGOs. ⚡ So many briefs by well-meaning non-governmental organisations that intend to promote local Vietnamese community products mean well, but unfortunately fail to appreciate some simple marketing truths. 💡 Our friends at Collective Design Agency rightly point out the added value that good branding provides. 📝 So next time you draw up a request for proposal, ensure your brief includes more than a budget for graphic designer, as design alone isn't sufficient to deliver the added value that good brand strategy and thinking can deliver.

MaaS (Mobility as a Service) - The Future of Transportation I want to share with you this post by Hanako Kawasaki about an article on our website written by Kana N. regarding the whole MaaS Phenomenon. The article is in Japanese so for a quick English summary it covers: What is MaaS? Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is revolutionizing the way we move. By integrating various transportation modes like buses, trains, taxis, and bike-sharing into one seamless service, MaaS allows users to plan, book, and pay for their trips using just a smartphone. It represents a paradigm shift from owning vehicles to using mobility services, making travel more convenient and efficient. Why is MaaS Gaining Attention? The potential of MaaS is immense, attracting interest from IT companies, automakers, financial institutions, and energy firms. Beyond improving transportation, MaaS addresses urban planning, environmental issues, and the needs of an aging society. It promises to reduce car dependency, lower environmental impact, and support social inclusion. Stages of MaaS Development MaaS services are typically categorized into five levels: Level 0: Independent transportation services Level 1: Integrated information and route searches Level 2: Unified booking and payment platforms Level 3: Subscription-based services Level 4: Integration with societal goals (yet to be achieved globally) In Japan, most MaaS services are at levels 1-2, while Europe and the US are advancing to level 3, with further progress anticipated. MaaS Business Overview Key players in the MaaS ecosystem include: Mobility Service Providers: Offer car-sharing (e.g., Times Car), bike-sharing (e.g., Hello Cycling), and person-to-person car sharing (e.g., Anyca). Shared Passive Services: Include ride-sharing (e.g., Uber Pool) and on-demand bus and taxi services (e.g., Osaka Metro’s on-demand bus). MaaS Operators MaaS operators provide the platforms and apps connecting services with users. These platforms integrate various transportation options, facilitating easy access to travel information, payments, bookings, and route planning through user-friendly apps. MaaS is set to transform transportation, making it smarter and more sustainable. For more insights and updates on the automotive and mobility sectors, follow Turnpoint Consulting Co., Ltd . Ignition K.K. I thought it would be helpful to share some information about the main commission system types that exist in the Japan recruitment market. One of the prominent systems is the Personnel Draw Based Commission System. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 This system typically works as follows: • 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲: You are paid a percentage of the revenue you generate over a specific period. • 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲: This percentage could be a fixed rate or an increasing rate that applies to different revenue thresholds as they are reached or surpassed. • 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀: The higher percentage may be calculated either solely for the revenue within different bands or applied retroactively to all the revenue generated to date in a quarter once the threshold is hit. • 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Payments are usually made quarterly or monthly. • 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺: Your monthly base salary is used as the mechanism (Draw) to calculate the commission owed to you. Two common ways this system is applied are: 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Percentage of quarterly revenue generated minus your quarterly cost (draw) = your total gross commission payout. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Quarterly revenue generated minus your quarterly cost (draw), then the percentage is applied against the remaining revenue amount to calculate your gross commission payout. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀: 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: Easy to understand and calculate. 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: No politics or personality involved; you earn based on your performance. 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: Percentages can be very good and profitable, depending on the company. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰e: Drives individual high performance and establishes a high-performance culture. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: May include increasing percentages at higher levels of revenue. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: The percentages may be too low to cover your draw (cost). 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Can create a more individualistic and less collaborative internal environment. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Less sharing of knowledge and information within teams. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄𝘀: Rolling draws (costs) that extend too long or have no limit can lead to always playing catch-up if you have a bad quarter. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀: Overly long wait for actual payouts. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: More difficult to develop long-term people management layers. Understanding this system can help you navigate the Japan recruitment market more effectively and choose the right company and commission structure that aligns with your career goals. If you are interested to find out more then please reach out directly to myself Michael Craven #rec2rec #japanjobs #drawsystem

FangKai Low 卢方凯 had the pleasure of being interviewed at CITYPlus FM earlier this week, where they discussed a crucial topic: "Should employees stay loyal to their employer?" Here are some reflections for employers: Even if you’re a good employer, people might still leave. Loyalty cannot be commanded; it must be earned. Instead of asking for loyalty, we should focus on the value we provide to our employees. 1. Leading Self: Ask yourself—what opportunities are we offering? 2. Leading Team: Ask your team—do we address their needs and concerns? 3. Leading Organisation: Are you driving the vision? Is the company growing and evolving in a way that inspires them? Ultimately, it’s about creating a platform for growth and ensuring that our values align with those of our employees. Don’t just think of what others can do for you, think of what value you can add to them too. Press Release: American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan and US-Taiwan Business Council Urge Agreement on Double Taxation Avoidance On June 24, President of the US-Taiwan Business Council Rupert Hammond-Chambers and President of AmCham Taiwan Patrick P. Lin signed a letter to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Committee on Finance, stressing the importance of expediting agreement on double taxation avoidance between the United States and Taiwan. The organizations commend Chairmen Ben Cardin and Ron Wyden, alongside Ranking Members Jim Risch and Mike Crapo, for their unwavering support of the robust U.S.-Taiwan partnership. As Taiwan plays a central role in crucial technology sectors and serves as an essential trading partner, the business leaders emphasized the need for a bilateral tax agreement under the bipartisan U.S.-Taiwan Expedited Double-Tax Elimination Act, which aims to bolster U.S. supply chains and fortify technological resilience against competitive pressures. By launching substantive anti-double taxation consultations, the United States and Taiwan can swiftly capitalize on the collaborative efforts to secure technological advancements and economic security. This move is proposed as a response to the stalling of the Tax Relief for American Workers Act in Congress, which underscores the necessity to commence negotiations independently. The business organizations have appealed to the committees to support a signal from the Senate to the U.S. Department of the Treasury to begin these consultations, paving the way for a finalized agreement to be reviewed and ratified by Congress.
