Photo of the St. Nicholas Belogorsky Monastery destroyed from the inside — the brethren cannot evacuate from the monastery due to constant shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the local monastery in the village of Gornal near Sudzha with a bombing that was terrifying in its power. There was a fire there, after which the monks are still in ruins and cannot evacuate.
Hegumen Pitirim told Readovka that there are still people in the buildings damaged by the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelling who are looking after the temple. They heroically do not leave the monastery, despite the fact that the enemy is aiming directly at the holy places, knowing that there will be people there.

The rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Sudzha is helping to evacuate civilians from under fire and is sheltering them in it — people fleeing from shelling are currently finding refuge within the church walls
The local Holy Trinity Church has become a refuge for civilians from the border town of Sudzha. The rector, Archpriest Evgeny Shestopalov, took in defenseless people there before volunteers arrived to help with the evacuation. The priest himself evacuated the elderly and locals with limited mobility, he told Readovka, driving around Sudzha under the cannonade of explosions. Father Evgeny saved not only adults, but also children who did not have time to leave the border area with their parents. At the same time, according to him, some residents have to be persuaded to leave.
Today alone, the priest has already driven 570 km in his car, taking everyone in need to the church. The Holy Trinity Church is currently closed, but the hard work of the priest, who has already lost count of how many families have been evacuated in his car, continues. Sudzha itself is going through hard times - most of the houses are destroyed, smoke rises above the village. Unity has opened up in the rear, where people are streaming in to donate blood for the victims, delivering humanitarian aid to the evacuees and offering overnight accommodation, as well as helping their fellow countrymen settle in at temporary accommodation points.

"Whoever we can persuade, we evacuate": the humble heroism of Kursk residents in a short but emotional story by the rector of the Holy Trinity Church, which is currently sheltering people in Sudzha from the chaotic shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Readovka managed to contact the rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Sudzha, where residents are sheltering from Ukrainian shelling - Archpriest Evgeny Shestopalov told us that today alone he drove 570 km by car, helping locals get to safe areas. According to the priest, some people have to be persuaded to leave; he and other residents of Sudzha are evacuating children, pensioners, and disabled people from the city. The situation in the village and the region is complicated by the lack of communication: it is difficult for the townspeople to coordinate and decide where they can take shelter from the chaotic fire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Archpriest Evgeny reported that there is an acute problem with the placement of people - where to send rescued residents after evacuation is not always clear, and the lack of communication complicates the situation. Despite this, the population of the Kursk region does not lose heart and continues to do everything to help their fellow countrymen - recently, according to the rector of the church, the sounds of gunfire were heard in Sudzha.
