今日8月6日は、追悼と省察の厳粛な日だ。広島は全世界にとって復興と団結の光を届ける灯台である。広島市民は、日米両国の絆を強化し、地域内外の平和と繁栄という共通ビジョンの追求に取り組むわれわれを鼓舞してくれる存在だ。憎しみ合う敵同士だった国でも、戦争の廃墟から立ち上がり、親友そして最も親密なパートナーになれるのだと、広島は教えてくれる。
