"The prime minister does not interfere in American politics and will work with whoever is elected president, just as he also expects the Americans not to interfere in Israeli politics."
Whoah! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Si non e vero, e ben trovato!
Oh man! This is funny! Israel spends all its time mingling in American politics making sure — thanks to the AIPAC — that no American president gets elected if it doesn't support Israel. Bibi himself has openly stated how he's got the Americans wrapped up his pinky finger.
As to "expect the Americans not to interfere in Israeli politics" that should be filed as utter BS: the Americans have all the rights in the world to interfere in Israeli politics. They finance the bloody whole Israeli scheme, for God's sake! There would be no Israel if it wasn't for American financing.
Joe, sweetheart, you're waking up now (at 81!) after all those years and you've just realised you've been had from behind by the Israelis? What sort of drugs were you doing?

the US 'official' shouldn't have been saying that, Mr. Biden withdraw his candidacy and it is over now. Israelis by big majority chose Netanyahu and his camarilla and unless they regret their choice there is no way out from this nightmare.

It will be over. about time

"Netanyahu is trying to prolong the war instead of focusing on how to get to a hostage deal," the official said. "It's making it harder for us to continue supporting Israel over time." This is what netanyahu brings, badshit crazy, where friends are turning "taking for granted'', not a good way of doing business

And...

Biden got sacked because he is so mentally deficient that he thinks rewarding bad behavior will discourage it.
Bibi has said America is easy to manipulate. He was right...as long as people like Biden are in charge.
I wonder if Biden thinks he can cut a deal with Nassar to end hostilities with Egypt.

A sad and tragic story. I fear the worst for the hostages.

Bibi has lied to America for more than 25 years. An honest word never passed his lips to America. Biden knows this and every Congressman knows this. So why say otherwise? They are all owned by the Israel Lobby. Even Rumsfeld admitted before leaving the Pentagon in 2005 that he did not run the Pentagon, AIPAC did. This is America's problem. How we fix it remains to be seen.

@Iraq War Vet: Bibi has been lying to Israel for more than 25 years, with no input from AIPAC.

Bibi, not Bibi, 25 years or God knows what... is all irrelevant.
Israel has been lying to the US (not to say the whole world...) for 76 years and scheming that lie for an additional 52 years starting in 1896!
25 years they say, pfffft 😆!

For several generations successive US governments have occasionally given Israel a slap on the wrist, but Israel has never paid any price for ignoring advice, suggestions, or International Law. Their regular deposits of US Dollars remain unconditional. Netanyahu, the ingrate, would never be able tolerate being held for the sucker that President Biden and several of his predecessors have in their dealings with him.

Part of the reason many Americans believe Biden is senile is the typical scams pulled on seniors in the US everyday that Biden seems vulnerable to with Bibi. Bibi says just send us more money, military equipment for our defense, I'm doing everything I can to negotiate hostages release. When Biden suspects he is being scammed about the hostages he then tries to persuade the scammer not to scam him! When that doesn't happen he looks the other way and forgets he is being scammed. You can't enable a wider war and then say you are against it. You can't watch israel shoot the negotiator across the table and then say you are concerned about ceasefire progress and blame Hamas. Is Biden sabotaging Harris the way Johnson sabotaged Humphrey or is Biden just senile? Many think he is just senile.

Senile.

I wished he was just senile... Biden's not the problem.
It's time to wakey-wakey! The problem's how the US has no independence whatsoever with Israeli affairs.
It's being led like a puppy, however, wherever, and whenever Israel wants to take it for a walk. End of story.

Note to IDF Command and national security Command:
YOU DO NOT TAKE OPERATIONAL ORDERS FROM POLITICIANS!
It is a violation of democratic principles for Netanyahu or any government personnel to direct military, policing or security operations to benefit himself personally or politically.
Military, security and police have an obligation to national and international law and must refuse directives or orders that violate the law.
Israel's military occupation of Gaza and its border crossings is a violation of international law and must cease immediately. Israel is already standing trial for genocide.
Military, security and police must rise above and stay above the criminal level of Netanyahu's behaviour.
"Following orders" is not a legal defense for Command, soldiers or officers engaging in war crimes or crimes against humanity. Such unlawful orders MUST be refused.

You still expect Ben Givir, Smortrich, the IDF, the Mossad, and Shin Bet to willingly
"..... rise above and stay above the criminal level of Netanyahu's behaviour."?
The UN, the ICC, the ICJ, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, to name a few have been demanding the same for decades.
Remember what worked in South Africa and ended Apartheid?

Lol. The whole world saw that Netanyahu is taking Biden for a ride. The only one who could not see that is Biden himself.

It's obvious that to Netanyahu his own political interests come first and the hostages are not a priority, not to mention that, with the Biden's Administration passivity, he takes the US for granted. The only way to teach him a lesson was for Biden, should Trump win in November, to allow the UN Security Council adopt a strong resolution against Israel ( without compromising Israel's security) under Chapter VII.
