Will breeding a shiny with a ditto hatch a shiny?
- Will breeding a shiny with a ditto hatch a shiny?
Accepted Answer
- I bred a shiny with a ditto and it did work but I think it was just a lucky shot. I'd go with the regular method just to be sure.

- There is no extra chance of the egg being a shiny if you breed with any Shiny male/female or Ditto combination.
The way to improve your chances of a shiny when breeding is to use two Pokemon who are from different regions, for example a German Male bred with a Japanese female.

- Actually, The shiny doesn't determine anything Chicken. It's still like a 1/2000 chance of getting a shiny even if a parent is Shiny. (The chance might be wrong)
- No, but I suggest chain fishing to get a shiny.
basically get a Pokemon with the ability Suction Cups (I suggest Inkay because they are the first available Pokemon with the ability, make sure the Pokemon is in the first slot of your party.) Find a good fishing spot and register your best rod, I suggest unregistered other items. and just keep fishing in the same spot. I get a shiny probably every 40-60 Pokemon chained. Oh and you don't have to get the same Pokemon over and over again. you can get others, but it will take longer. - Having a shiny as a parent doesn't influence anything.
Best way for you to get a shiny would be to use the Masuda Method, Pair a Pokemon from your region with one from a different region, and breed them, Pair this method with the Shiny Charm, and your chances of getting a shiny would be about 1/400 - breeding shiny + normal yields no better chance of a shiny. breeding pokemon from two different regions, however, will. Except for breeding a US poke with a UK poke. The two pokes have to be from two different countries with different languages I guess
- There is no chance that breeding Shiny Pokemon with other Shinies will raise the rate of incidence of Shiny Pokemon upon hatching.
You can increase the rate to 3/4096, though, if you breed two Pokemon from two different real-world regions (i.e. the US and Japan). - Either way, the shiny with a ditto basically doesn't 100% give you a shiny
- When one of the parents is shiny, there is a chance (albeit still very small) that offspring will be shiny as well. It doesn't appear to matter if the other parent is a Ditto or not, but using Ditto won't improve your chances. The only way to improve your chances is Masuda Method, aka, using 2 Pokemon with different OT numbers.
