[REQ] Packard Bell EU Master CD (1995)

Post by intuiX »

Hello all,

I'm in the process of restoring the system of my antic Packard Bell computer (486DX2/66) back to like it was when I first purchased it in the summer of 1995.
But I'm lacking the recovery CD (aka European Master CD).

Image

This CD is red/silver with multiple-language support (English, French, German) and has the following OS & softwares :

Systems :
Windows for Workgroups 3.11
MS-DOS 6.22

Softwares :
MS Works 3.x
MS Money 3.x
MS Encarta 95
MS Windows Entertainement Pack (Skifree, Rodent's Revenge..)
Sage Moneywise
Lotus Organizer
Disk Image
PB Navigator 2.x
3D Body, 3D Dinosaur, Kid's Zoo, Undersea / Speed / Space Adventure (Knowledge Adventure)
The Four Seasons of French Cuisine (Arome Interactive)
Cyberia Mission Norway (Interplay)
Multimedia Maestro (Software Dynamics)
Learn French with Asterix (Eurotalk)
Beethoven's 5th Symphony

In addition, it was sold with Packard Bell PC's such as Legend, Axcel, Executive 95XX, Force, All-in-One Spectria models.

If someone has that lying around, please let me know.

Thank you

Hmm.

I'm interested in it too, but not because it's a recovery cd I don't have.

The antitrust docs show a proposal related to oems and multiple languages of Win 3.x, regarding bundling the files, the resources for each language, and a file to link the exes with the resources.

Perhaps this was actually done, and that this recovery cd uses it.

(Alternatively, it could use Jastro, but for some reason i doubt it, after all it has snowball...)

I remember there were three folders at the root, one for each supported language.

BU01 = UK
BU02 = FR
BU03 = DE

But I have no idea regarding bundling the files.. I just know they were compressed into a ARJ format.

Been a while since last post but ... I've got the CD you're after... been trying to un ARJ the compressed archive into Virtual PC for old time sake after failing to install from Windows 95 CD-ROM. However the ARJ archives are password protected and I'm stumped !

CD reads ... Packard Bell European Master CD English. Part code 6706750201 Copyright 1996 Packard Bell Europe BV. Contents are folders called BU01 DISKIMAG and WIN95 plus MASTER.ID. 278MB in size.

Happy to provide a copy of the CD to anyone interested. Would love any assistance in un ARJ'ing the contents of the archive :)

Hello,

The CD I'm looking for has a Part code 6705370200 and supports 3 languages (English, French, German).

However, I am very interested in your CD to complete my collection. Can you do an ISO and upload it somewhere ? Eg http://mega.co.nz ?

Thank you so much.

I've scanned images of CDs before with no issue...

Including a Win 95 OSR2.1 CD...

I have. Plenty of times, especially since I've scanned most artwork available with the releases we have. And they all come out better than a grainy cellphone pic :). If you could make a scan it would be greatly appreciated. I've made a specific scanning guide to help you get the best quality.

Thank you ! Do you have the boot disk by any chance ? I saw on the Master CD there was a folder named WIN95 containing the files of the boot disk except the master.exe file. Therefore, it's impossible to start the restoration program without it.

I'm just resurrecting this thread because I can't see how to send you a PM, intuiX, but I have an original of the 6706750201 CD which you're welcome to have if you want. I may even have the boot floppy somewhere too, but I'd need to check a couple of places to confirm. Let me know.

Hi,

I'm more interested in the boot floppy since I already have the 6706750201 CD. Let me know if you can find it.

I'm still looking for the 6705370200 CD. If anyone has it, I can buy it at a very good price (btw £50.00 and £100.00).

Anuextreme117, I can't reply to the PM that you sent me about the disc I have, but it's yours if you want it - hopefully you are still monitoring this thread. Please PM me where it needs to be sent to.

In the old MCDs (starting with 670), the password for the ARJ files was "P127A783D".

arj x * -y -gP127A783D
