No matter how the world changes , the Truth stays the same. And the Orthodox Church stays on guard of the Truth, not letting in any new modern concepts. “everything that is read in the Gospel, the Holy Scriptures, the Church prayers, the Canons, the Acathistos, the Psalms—is the one same eternal truth; it is the same now, as when you first found it, or when you prayed with a fervent heart, and felt its full verity, its sweetness, peace and life-giving effect. You change and place yourself in various relations to it, but the truth itself remains forever the same.” St. John of Kronstadt
Christian head covering was unanimously practiced by the women of the Early Church. This was attested by multiple writers throughout the first centuries of Christianity. Tertullian (150–220) explains that in his day, the Corinthian church was still practicing head covering. This is only 150 years after the Apostle Paul wrote 1 Corinthians. He said, “So, too, did the Corinthians themselves understand [Paul]. In fact, at this day the Corinthians do veil their virgins. What the apostles taught, their disciples approve." St Clement of Alexandria (150–215) wrote, “Woman and man are to go to church decently attired...for this is the wish of the Word, since it is becoming for her to pray veiled.” Veiling does not have to be stylish, but it is an apostolic commandment.
It is not important who you are and what’s your occupation. “If you are a layperson, live among laypeople and do their works…” This should be understood like this: Every form of Christian life has its own virtues and occupations. The works of those whose manner of life differs from ours are inaccessible to us. For example, a mother with nursing infants cannot go to church every day to all the services or read long prayers at home. Doing so would only cause confusion, and even sin, if for example while the mother is gone the child is left to itself and injures itself or makes mischief as it grows.” St. Nikon of Optina
Thus inspired, do what a warrior in physical warfare does sometimes when he is hard pressed by the enemy; he steps back a little, to find a better point of vantage and see more clearly how best to speed his arrow at the heart of the foe. So you too, collect your thoughts within, and, re-establishing the consciousness and feeling of your nothingness and of your impotence to achieve by yourself what this moment demands, appeal to God to Whom all is possible, calling for His help against the attack of passion with warmth of trust and tears, saying: ‘Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake’ (Ps 44:26). ‘Fight’ (my Jesus) ‘against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help... Unseen Warfare
The Church is Catholic (but neither Roman nor associated with any ancient city) THE CHURCH is called One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic; because she is one, and holy; because she belongs to the whole world, and not to any particular locality; because by her all mankind and all the earth, and not any particular nation or country, are sanctified; because her very essence consists in the agreement and unity of the spirit and life of all the members who acknowledge her, throughout the world; lastly, because in the writings and doctrines of the Apostles is contained all the fullness of her faith, her hope, and her love. Confession has a healing effect for a soul. And just as we need to tell everything to the doctor, so it should be during Confession. Saint righteous John of Kronstadt teaches: "the more sincere our confession has been, the more tranquil will the soul be afterwards. Sins are–secret serpents, gnawing at the heart of a man and all his being; they do not let him rest, they continually suck his heart; sins are–prickly thorns, constantly goring the soul; sins are– spiritual darkness. Those who repent must bring forth the fruits of repentance."
It's necessary to have courage, decisiveness and soul of an ascetic to be Christian. In many cases we are discriminated, like what the citizens of Sodom said to righteous Lot: "This one is a foreigner, and already is acting like a judge; now we will do you worse than them [the Angels]" (Gen 19:9). Being neither righteous nor ascetics, it's still necessary to head to this.
God 'tested Abraham' (Gen. 22:1-14), that is, God afflicted him for his own benefit, not in order to learn what kind of man Abraham was - for He knew him, since He knows all things before they come into existence - but in order to provide him with opportunities for showing perfect faith.
