      There was no surer, sadder proof Joe Biden is not up to the task that is no longer ahead of him than the manner in which he asked the American people to take it up instead.

      There in the Oval Office, behind the Resolute Desk, the president was asking the nation to come together and save their own democracy, but he sounded rather more like he was asking them if they wouldn’t mind running round to the convenience store and picking him up a newspaper and a few essentials.
